Well, looks like we are rescheduling our May trip again :( We moved it to the end of October and are now moving it again. We need to make our decision by 8/11 because we booked a charter through a local travel agent. The district I teach in is planning on going back full time so there is no way I could quarantine 14 days after a week long vacation. These are the dates they gave us to choose from:
2/28-worried it might be too soon and nothing will have really changed
3/21
4/25
5/2
There are a few end of May/June dates, but it gets too hot by that point. I crossed off any dates that hit major holidays, but I know you guys are good at knowing when other events are taking place. I know during this uncertain time it is hard to pinpoint crowd levels.

Thanks!

I would go with 5/2. Late enough where you miss all the northern state april breaks, early enough where it's not super de duper hot and humid.

Knowing what events will take place next year or what crowds may look like is a total shot in the dark, so I would just choose whichever dates work best for you. If it were me, I'd go with 4/25. Easter is April 4th next year, so you'll be after the Spring Break crowds. Late April/early May can either be really hot or comfortable, so that's why I chose the April date over the May one, but it likely won't make much difference in terms of weather.

For the May date, I'm thinking there could be school districts that end early (similar to this year) if the situation warrants it, which could free up some people for the parks and impact crowds. And if you're going for a week, the May date ends at Mother's Day weekend. Doesn't normally impact crowds much, but who knows next year!

When we go we always go the first week in May. We would be coming home the day before Mother’s Day. Thanks :)

The only reason I have 4/23-5/1 booked instead of early May is so I can convince my school administrator mother to come with us, and her break is the week of the 25th.

I'd pick 3/21. I think we will still be wearing mask through Spring 2021 - and I think March weather in Florida is beautiful. By 5/2 - you could have a super hot week.

Honestly I think it's a six of one, half a dozen of another. The later you go, the more likely it is a vaccine will be available and restrictions might be lifted at least in part. However I also agree that mask wearing, park reservations, limited or alternative experiences are here at least through the first half of the year, though I am personally expecting longer. I also think, at least from what I've heard/seen, people who didn't want to go this year, or couldn't go, have been booking into the Jan-March window. I don't know if that is accurate or just an assumption based on the people I know, or have read about. Having said all that, if masks and the heat are a concern, the later you go the hotter it will become. In the end I don't think you have a right or a wrong answer, it's just what makes the most sense for you and your family. My preference honestly would be the March or April week.
