My mom has decided that she wants to stay in a Deluxe Resort for our trip in December 2008. She is leaning towards the WL, but I would like to stay at CR. She needs a room with a seat in the tub and she will have her own ECV by then and she wants to know if it will fit in the room with us. We have only stayed in the Pop Century, Ft Wilderness Cabins, and AS Movies. She said that she loved the Cabins, but it was too much of a hassle with the transportation and the distance from everything.

Please share any advice you can, we can book next month and we need to make a decision on where to stay.

Also, my mom said that she read that valet parking in free to someone with a handicapped tag/placard. Is this true?

While I can't say much about the size of the rooms, I'd lean towards CR, Poly or the GF just for the ease of transportation, if for nothing else. You have the monorail right there. If you stay at CR, you could even "walk" over to MK if you wanted/needed to. I'd be very clear when making reservations that you will be having a family member with mobility issues, and particularly an ECV, hopefully they will have protocol, and perhaps some good suggestions.

First of all, an ECV will fit without much trouble in any of the Disney Resort rooms.

If she just needs a shower seat that can be provided by mousekeeping for any room. If she also needs grab bars and a 17" high (raised) toilet rather than the normal 13 inch, then she would have to request an accessible room. When you are making your reservation, the person you are talking to will have to put you on hold a while when talking with Special Reservations. Your confirmation should specifically state Accessible room on it.

And yes, there is no charge for valet parking at the deluxe resorts if you have a handicap plate or tag. However, just remember that the valets are tip positions. Normally I would tip $1.00 or $2.00, both in and out, depending on the weather (higher if very hot or raining) if they did not have to do anything with my ECV. If they had to take my ECV out of the trunk and assemble it, or disassemble it and put it in the trunk I would usually tip $5.00. Of course if I wanted assistance with the ECV and did not get any, not only would there be no tip but also a discussion with a supervisor as to why no tip.

And I would agree with ZoeMakes5 that staying at a monorail Resort would be much easier than staying at WL for transportation reasons.
