Okay, I admit it. I am addicted to Disney World on-site hotels. Can the Hershey Lodge compare? This is a once in a lifetime trip, but I could really save some major bucks by staying in the Best Western across the street. I've never been to Hershey before. There are children, ages 9-13 involved. Thanks for any advice!!!! :yay:

The Hershey Lodge was nice (we also stayed in the Comfort Inn there), but I wouldn't compare it to the WL or anything like that. It's been many years since we stayed there (1998 I believe), but it was nothing too fancy & the themeing was much more subtle than disney hotels. A nice, clean hotel though and nicely landscaped grounds.
I think the Hershey Hotel, while being more expensive, is really nice. The Lodge is comparable to a disney moderate and the Hershey Hotel is PA's version of the GF.
Where the Hershey hotels compare to the wdw ones especially is in the early morning entry perk (get to arrive 1 hour before other guests) and the free shuttle.

We stayed at the WHITE ROSE MOTEL this past July, it's about a 5 nimute drive to the park and it's right on Chocolate Avenue. This was a VERY clean place and it's reasonably priced....have fun!

Being from PA we do Hershey once a year---I believe last time I checked they offered a character breakfast and early park entry for guests staying on site. Not sure if this is available to everyone. tHEY ALSO HAVE A DESENT CAMP GROUND TYPE STAY THAT IS CONSIDERED ON SITE. sorry 4 the caps. We usually stay off site there but for a 1 time only trip you may want to stay on site to get the better experience.. :thumbsup2

Just back from the Hershey Lodge during Christmas. Having stayed in Disney 13 times, I am quite hard to please. I was so surprised and impressed with the Hershey Lodge. I cannot say enough about it. There are also plenty of placed to eat right inside the lodge. We visited the Hershey Hotel and I will say that I loved the Lodge much more. The Hershey Hotel felt drab and stuffy and a lot of convention people walking around. The lodge was so comfortable and cozy. I felt like it was a mini Wildness Lodge, at least the feel of it. You cannot go wrong with the lodge and if I were going I would be so disappointed if I did not stay there to save a few bucks at a non Hershey hotel. There is no comparison. You will not be disappointed! Have a great trip!

The Hershey Lodge is a very nice hotel. They have a good selection of places to eat and drink....nice indoor pool, too. They work hard to make it a true "themed" hotel (I believe whole heartedly that they use Disney as their model). On a scale of 1 to 10, with Disney being a 10, I'd rate the Hershey Lodge as an 8.

We've stayed there three times and really enjoyed it. It does not have all of the theming of Disney resorts, but it is fun, clean, and very convenient to the park. You won't be disappointed. Their Character breakfasts are fun!

Hershey Hotel is wonderful, but quite pricey. It's also more for adults than kids. For kids, Hershey Lodge is best.
