Need help cancelling - loss of job

I would go on trip as the way I look at it is, what would have happen if your husband lost his job after you came home from Disney?

Things are going to happen in life and we can't do much about them. As long as your trip is already paid off, what harm can it do. You said you have money saved so, go to disney have fun, like you said your husband will have a decent severance pay.
Have fun, and try not to worry.

I should have updated this AGES ago. Anyway, we went on the trip and had a great time overall. We had a few 'weird' moments, sortof like an out-of-body experience where it just seemed bizarre to be on this fabulous vacation, knowing that hubby lost his job. For the most part, though, we tried not to let it get us down.

That said, he quickly found a new job and has been back to work for a couple of months now!

You did the right thing. I was between positions several years back, with good severance and a firm job offer (just couldn't start for several weeks) and I wasted the time doing the "find another job" drill. In retrospect, I wish we had loaded up the truck and headed out to Yellowstone...

:cool1::woohoo: Congrats on the new job. Sometimes life has a way of working itself out.

I should have read all the post didn't know you already took your trip silly me!
Congrats on the new job and I'm happy to see that you went to disney!

So glad you went on the trip -- and that everything worked out when you returned home. Job loss is extremely stressful, so glad it worked out well for you!

Glad to hear you went and so really happy he has a new job. It's nice to hear things really do workout if you have faith, hope and Pixie Dust. ;)

I just read through this thread today and I have to say I am so happy for you that everything worked out!

While it wasn't a lay-off, two weeks before our wedding this past August DH decided he absolutely had to quit his job.

He was literally taking major abuse from his employer, sending him on back to back jobs on the road with no rest, revoking days off, constantly threatening to fire their employees if they didn't obey their every wish. Two weeks before the wedding they were purposely taking other people off jobs, and putting him on them and even went so far as to start scheduling him on jobs coming back the morning of the wedding and leaving the day after. (it was a power thing for them). All this for what in our area is not even average pay.

We couldn't just postpone our wedding two weeks out so he had no choice but to quit or lose the 11,000 we just spent on our wedding and possible lose each other. We decided he had to quit and trust that my job would keep us afloat and everything would work out.

It was the toughest decision we ever had to make but also one of the best. We went through a rough period financially for about 6 months but it was well worth. We had a wonderful wedding and a wonderful honeymoon a couple months later. DH now has a wonderful job that he really likes for the same pay but with a normal life.

Sometimes you just need to trust your instinct and trust that everything will work out. I am so happy it worked out for you bc I know how hard it is to make tough decisions during financially tough times.:thumbsup2:woohoo:

Life is just too short sometimes to hold back.
