Need help booking last minute trip

We got a good deal on airfare so we decided to take a last minute trip to WDW 9/30-10/2. We had been playing around with dates for basically all of October for airfare/rooms and this weekend turned out to be the best. So we booked our flights and then I went online to look at what rooms were available and the only thing showing up for our dates are suites at CSR and AKL! The thing is, I know rooms are open at other resorts those dates because when I put in a longer stay (like 9/30-10/3 or 10/4) plenty of other options come up, including regular rooms at ASSp and POR.

We'd rather stay at a value or moderate to keep costs down, but how do I do that when it won't let me book for only the 2 nights I'm staying? Can I book for 3 nights then call and drop a night? Or will they say my room isn't available for 2 nights then? I'm really at a loss as to what to do. We always book pretty far in advance so we've never had this problem.
 
I agree. Calling will give you the best possible choices. I think the CM's can access things better on their computers than you can on the internet reservation system. We'll be there from the 30th until the 4th! See you there!
 
Thanks. I definitely plan on calling, but CRO wasn't open last night when I realized this or this morning before I left to bring my daughter to preschool. I'm going to call them now and check things out. If all else fails I can always book the AP rate, since they have Music and Sports available, but I didn't really want to activate my AP till our December trip so I'm trying not to go that route.
 

My TA was able to do this for me, for the same weekend! We'll be there from 10/1-10/4, wanted to try out POFQ, but nothing was available with an AP rate when we booked a few weeks ago. A longer stay was though, and my TA booked that, then called back a few hours later and adjusted the dates. No problem at all. Good luck!
 
Yesterday, the online system showed availability that the CM on the phone didn't see, and she explained to me that there are two differnt pools of available rooms - an online set, and a CM set. So you should definitely call!!

Off subject...how do you upload photos? I've tired but no luck. Do I need to have a min amount of posts before I can put pics???
 
Thanks everyone, we called last night and had a choice of POR, POFQ, ASSp or ASMu. We chose POR and POFQ. Both kinda required us to book a longer stay then call back to shorten it, but it worked out. We couldn't decide on the resort so we are doing 1 night at each. I figure we'll only be there 2 nights so we won't really have to unpack anything so why not take the opportunity to try out both resorts!?! Also, I don't care where our rooms are since it's only 2 nights so we'll just drop our bags off to be switched to the other resort when we leave for the parks and then we'll check in at the new resort when we get back that night. My only regret is that we won't be there long enough to really enjoy either, but it's a good excuse to go back.

Huey578, I'm not really a great one to ask, but I'll try to help you out with this photo stuff. You have to upload a photo to a website (I use www.imagestation.com ) and then you right click on it and click on properties in the little menu that comes up. Copy the name of the photo's file (it will be like a URL) and then go to your DIS User CP. In the edit signature section there's a little button that inserts a photo for you (looks like a little mountain). Click on that and paste the URL that you copied from the photo in there. Then you're all set! Anyone can do it, you don't have to have a certain number of posts. For more help with that, go to the tech support boards cause I'm sure someone there can explain all that better than me.

Tracey1974, I forgot you guys would be down there that weekend. Maybe we'll run into you! We'll be at POFQ 9/30-10/1 and POR 10/1-10/2.
