If you book your home resort at 11 months out.. but in reality you really want a different resort because it's fewer points.. can you wait list the other resort, hopefully book it and cancel your existing ressie at the same time? Reason being, being able to use the extra points later that year doing the same thing...

Ex: I own BCV big points.. BWV low points.. can stay in BWV February and June.. but not enough points to stay in home resort BCV. Clear as mud.. What do I do ???

If you book your home resort, you cannot waitlist another resort (that you do not own) until 7 months. Waitlists also follow home booking rules.

I will warn that BWV Standard as a waitlist at 7 months for multiple nights can be a tough get, as BWV owners may be waitlisting well in advance of your ability to join the waitlist.

The modify reservation feature allows you to try and switch at 7 months and you won't lose your existing reservation if the room ends up not being available. At that point you can waitlist it and specify that they cancel and use the points from the reservation that you are currently holding. If you can either book it or the waitlist fills then yes you can use the points difference towards a different reservation. And if they are current points and you are still within your banking window you also would have the option to bank them into your next UY.

Echoing off of what KAT4DISNEY said, when you do put in the waitlist at the 7 month window, you can specify if you want it to give up trying 30 days out or 7 days out from your currently booked check-in date. We’re currently booked for 4 nights in a studio at BRV in May but have a waitlist in for CCV that will keep looking until 7 days prior to check-in.
