Hi ya'll. I work in the city (near Emory) but live OTP (outside the perimeter for non-Atlantans who read this). I have been tasked to assist with the holiday event (luncheon) planning. Last year we went to Maggiano's in Buckhead. Since we are running out of time to book for holiday parties I am needing some advice. I am looking for suggestions for an office luncheon. They've turned down my suggestions of ESPN, Dave and Busters, in-office catered. I'd go to Maggianos again but I didn't like what last years committee picked as our food selections and felt my $$$$ was wasted as I only ate 1 or 2 things--and 1 was dessert :goodvibes. And I'm wondering if anyone else might have felt the same way so would definitely have to have a say in what gets picked this year for food selections.

So here's the challenge:
Close to Emory/Buckhead area
Place with a private room or semi-private area preferred
Not overly expensive
Good food (a must)

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Thanks vettechick99. Looking at he menu I think they wil think it's too pricey but I LOOOOVVVVE the look of it--I am going to go myself one day.

That's sort of outside my realm of experience/expertise. I haven't gone to many events at restaurants here.

Canoe in Vinings is nice, but it's a little pricey!

Atlanta Fish Market in Buckhead is also wonderful and fresh, but pricey.

maybe I can be of some help.

There are tons of restaurants in Virginia Highlands/Morningside area that are really good. With the refusal to do ESPN or Dave and Busters, it sounds like your co-workers really want to stay away from the big corporate restaurants and may be more interested in one of the more unique, local in-town restaurants. All along N. Highland (which should be no more than a 5-10 minute drive from Emory there are great restaurants. Here's a few you may want to look at: Sala, Dish, Harvest and Atkins Park. Go to www.accessatlanta.com and in the restaurants area click on Virginia Highlands/Morningside (you may even want to try Midtown) and read the reviews. If you find something that sounds interesting let me know and I'll tell you if we've been there and if it was any good.

Good luck.
Mary

PS: I second Agnes and Muriels. It's quite eclectic and quirky. The food is kind of "50's mom's kitchen" similar in some ways to Primetime Cafe at MGM.
