need help as to when to book our trip

Seems like a ton of people have been waitlisted lately...If we want to go in Sept. next year when should I book SSR????? And do you think I will have a hard time getting my ressie???????

If you are an SSR owner you want to go in September of 2007, book in October of 2006. Make sure that you are sure of your dates and that that isw really when you want to go. 99.9% of the time, you will get what you want when you reserve at 11 months. If you are not an SSR owner, you will be able to reserve in February, at the 7 month mark and will not have a problem.

For a variety of reasons, September is a light month for DVC. You won't have a problem if you wait, but why wait if you are sure of your plans.

SSR is the largest on site DVC resort. September is one of the easiest months to book DVC accomodations. No need to stress out over not getting a reservation because you missed the 11 month window!

If anyone is waitlisted for September at SSR this year (I don't recall any reports of that), they didn't call to make the reservation until well after the 7 month window opened.

Since there is no penalty for cancelling or changing a reservation (as long as you do it at least 31 days prior to arrival), you can make the reservation at 11 months if you want to, but there is no hurry to do so.

Use year has nothing to do with when you can make a reservation. You can book up to 11 months prior to a trip at your home resort as long as you have points available at the time of the trip.

I think this is one of the most common errors new members make, and it's good that you are finding out now. We've had people post before that they never can get the reservations they want because their use year is to close to when they want to travel.

As long as you will have the points available next September, you can book as early as this October at 11 months prior to the check out date.

If you have points that are coming in February of 2007, you will not have to borrow them to make the ressie for September 2007. You can make your ressie in October 2006. The points will be used in the use year they are from and no borrowing is necessary. If the points that you will be using are ones that you will be getting in February 2008, then those points will need to be borrowed, but you can still make the ressie in October 2006. If you don't go or ever cancel that ressie, those 2008 points will stay in your 2007 use year.

Oh I got it hte points are in from the coming year feb. 2007 so I really will not be borrowing them????Even though the use year is in Feb right???? I can still book in OCt....this year...?????

Use year has nothing to do with "booking window". Booking window is always 11 months at your home resort, 7 months at others.

The points have to be available for the dates you will be at the resort, the points don't have to be available now in order for you to book...as along as you will have them at the time of check-in (your feb use year is a great example)...you don't have the points now, but you will have them available in Feb 07 for your Oct 07 ressie, so you can make the ressie now.
