I just got your DVC membership number this morning on 125 points I bought by resale. I have 125 banked and another 125 available Dec. 1. I called to make ressie and/or wait list for 12/30 through 1/5. I was able to get ressie at OKW (my home property) for 1/2 through 1/5 and have wait listed at any of the WDW DVC properties for the other days. The Guest Services person (am I used the right term?) indicated that they will reserve anything that comes up at any of the properties, even on a day by day basis, and let me know. That seems entirely too easy. Does that sound right to any of you experienced pros?

Thanks for your insights and advise. I am sure I will get the hang of it after a while.

Congratulations! It's "Member Services" rather than "Guest Services". Yes, the wait list is a great thing. They will watch the properties for you. I would caution you that 12/30 and 12/31 in particular are hard tickets to come by. If you really want to be in WDW for those dates, you might want to think about booking a back-up reservation. 12/31 is one of those days where the wait list doesn't always work.

Remember, at 31 days out if you want to remain on the wait list, call MS and let them know. At 7 days out, you must call day by day to check (there is no wait list).

Also, keep in mind that since you are a December Use Year, the banked points can only be used through 12/31/03. You will have to dip into your new points for the January nights.

Hi,

Not to worry! You'll be fine!!! Congrats & welcome home. Its sounds like member services gave you a call. You were close. :) Sending you some pixie dust.

Thanks for the advise. What do you mean by back up reservations. Do you mean at DVC or a regular Disney or other hotel?

Thanks

Randy

PS. Also, my banked points are for the use year we are in right now, so I assume they are available starting Dec 1, 2003 and good for 1 year. Boy, this is complicated.

Do you mean at DVC or a regular Disney or other hotel?

It's not a bad idea to have a reservation at a non-DVC hotel, just in case the date comes through on the wait list. At least you know you'll have somewhere to sleep that night. Book something that can be cancelled when the DVC wait list does come through! ;)

Yes, if the banked points you are referring to are Dec 2002 points banked into 2003, they can be used for reservations December 1, 2003 thru Nov 30, 2004.
