Looking for craft, treat or game ideas for 2nd grade school party. Anybody have any cool new ideas. I've been searching online and it just seems like the same old stuff.

Things should only take about 10 minutes each. We will do three different stations.

Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

Game - pass the pumpkin, freeze dance, pin the nose on the pumpkin..
Treat - dirt with worms and witch's brew (make your own label and put on juice container)
Craft - take a picture of the class in their costumes and print out on paper in the computer lab - have them make foam frames and add foam halloween stickers..

I know these have been done before...I am also looking for some ideas for a PK class

I don't really have anything new or cool but two games that were always popular at our class parties were a variation on musical chairs (you'd get a bunch of cardboard pumpkins you hang in your window and tape them to the floor. Have the kids dance to Halloween music and when it stopped they had to stand on one of the pumpkins....each time you removed a pumpkin, just like in musical chairs).

The other thing was Halloween Bingo. I'd make Halloween themed bingo sheets and use candy corn as the chips. We'd give out tissue ghost lollipops as prizes. I don't know what it was about Bingo but the kids went nuts over it! The teachers liked it too because it kept the kids quiet and in their seats.

As far as treats there was a thread on the boards about a week ago for mini-caramel apples that looked really cute.

This may be a little messy for them to do themselves, I have made these for the class before. You need a LOT of popped popcorn, white preferably. You will need a clear plastic glove (food service) , 5 candy corns, and one spider ring for each child. Ribbon to tie shut.

You take one candy corn and put in the end of each finger of the glove. This is the fingernail. Then fill the glove with popcorn, getting it down into the fingers and filling the hand. Tie the wrist shut, put the spider ring on one of the fingers.

Cover a Tootsie pop with a white tissue. Wrap a piece of pipe cleaner around the stick and draw a ghost face on it. You can do the same concept and make a spider, with four pipe cleaners wrapped around the stick and shaped like legs.

I'm throwing a kids party. We are having a ghost pinata, playing pin the heart on the skeleton, musical tombstones, having a cupcake walk, and eating donuts hanging from strings. Hope this helps.

Games...

Halloween pictionary. Kids love it. We did the rotating groups last year and this worked well. Have a trick-or-treat pumkin bucket with strips of paper with the words the kids will draw. Then you play in teams. So if you draw out "skeleton" you will have 3 kids drawing and 3 kids guessing, for their team mate. Its fun and they can do quite a few in 10 minutes.

Another... we did this at a rotating party too. You gather several (15 +)objects, some quite tiny. You place them on a table under a sheet, or table clothe. The kids come and feel under the sheet, no peeking and try to guess all of the objects. The adult running the game has a checklist and checks off items as they say them. Then at the end of the party you announce which 'team' won and reveal all the items. You do kind of need 2 adults there, one to record and one to make sure the sheet stays on top.

Pass the ring. This works best for a big group, not a rotating party. One kid is it. He goes out of the room. The rest are seated on the floor in a circle. You thread a ring, spider ring for Halloween, onto a long piece of yarn. The yarn has to be in a big circle that each child can hold onto. So the kids pass the ring from kid to kid, trying to be sneaky so no one knows where the ring is. The "it" kid comes in and gets 3 guesses to decide who has the ring. They must keep passing it while he is guessing. So the kids who don't have the ring have to be pretending to pass the ring. You play it several times with different kids being "it." Kids love it and its easy.

Treats. There are a million fancy cupcakes on all of the blogs right now. And some awesome new sugar cookies. What are you thinking?

Crafts. Not my thing :confused3 This year our party is only 20 minutes, so only a game and a snack!

Thanks for the ideas. I needed something to jumpstart some discussion.
