Need hair help

DD (4) is biracial and has super super thick but fine hair. I just combed it out because she wants a ponytail for her end of year program tomorrow but it is really puffy right now. I am heading to the store so I am hoping for recommendations on products that will weigh the hair down a little, defrizz it maybe, enhance the curl maybe. Weighing the hair down is the big thing though. Suggestions?

Leave in conditioner, doesn't really matter what kind. Wet it tonight, put leave in conditioner, comb it out and put into 4 braids. Tomorrow, take the braids out and just brush the top part to put in ponytail, don't bother the ponytail part at all. It will still be curly and wonderful but neat.
