I would like some hotel recommendations for our stay in August. We will be at US on 8/10 to 8/12 or 13. have a ressie at the hard rock and are now rethinking the cost.

how is the Nick Hotel that is advertised so well on Nickelodeon??!! how close is it to US...is there transportation? room conditions? warnings?!~

are there any other great hotels right near US that don't cost 200/per night?

thanks!

You need to keep the reservation you have and stay onsite.

08/10/07 - 08/12/07 is one of the most busy weeks of the year. It's the weekend before kids go back to school, which is on 08/20/07.

Many people like to save as much money as possible on a vacation, but in this case, you'll have to find other ways. Plan on packing a cooler before you check in. Most limo services will make a stop at Publix. You have to think of this as a splurge trip, like a ski vacation. Start saving money now.

The good news, is that the parks will stay open until 10pm, so you'll be able to visit in the morning, rest in the afternoon, then go back at night to see the fireworks.

Every time I've checked the Nick Hotel, the cost as been on par with the on-site hotels. Have you priced it? ETA: I checked your dates @ the Nick Hotel with AAA rate and best available rate, and you're in the high $200s per night. As in $250-275/night. Are you really sure your HRH rate is cheaper? If you're really worried, you could always do RPR for $191/AAA.

ITA with robvia ... you haven't told us the cost of your HRH ressie, but be sure to take the Date/Rate thread to see if you are within range. I would hold onto the HRH ressie.

The Nick hotel is about 5 min outside the main WDW gate. It is not near US/IOA.

RPR is a little cheaper than HRH. We love staying onsite at USO. Once we park the car at the hotel we don't have to go near it again. We almost always walk everywhere at USO.

Thanks for the input guys. We will be coming from a DVC stay at the Beach Club Villas, and we are trying to spend as little as possible on everything this time. I love it at the HR, and it is well worth the money. I am honestly very leery about staying offsite, but if someone had a great suggestion, I may have looked into it. Now that I know that it will be crowded (yikes....sounds like a headache waiting to happen!) we will probably stay put at the HRH. Our rate was somewhere around 250....they of course were out of the AAA rates when I called a few months ago!
Our son has special needs, and the thought of not being able to use the front of the line option just gives me hives!

Thanks again...majority rules!

If you wanted to save $$, the AAA rate is available at the RPR for $191.20 and the PBH for $239.20 for your dates.
