Need Goofy's Kitchen reviews: Brunch vs. Dinner?

We just did the brunch and loved it. We are heading down for Christmas and our 1st day will be DS's 1st bday!! We won't be in town until around noon, so brunch is out that day. What does everyone think of their dinner, compared to the brunch foods?

We will be doing brunch for the first time this trip. But we have done dinner many times. It has always been a requirement for us to go. The prime rib is amazing and there are tons of choices for everyone. I don't think they have as many cupcake varieties as they do at brunch and the do have the pbj pizza at dinner. We have never left hungry or dissapointed

I have preferred their dinner hands down to brunch at goofy's in the past. Their prime rib, fish and pasta were usually really good. We loved their vast selections and thought just about everything was really good. We went again this past Aug after a 2-year hiatus and found that the menu had changed from what we had previously known. The creamy pasta was gone, and so was the fish (sole, i believe) that we had come to expect. The dessert selection seemed to have more healthy selections, gone was the tiramisu and creme anglaise for the bread pudding. The character interaction however, was one of the highlights of our trip. Minnie danced with my 2 year old niece and held her hand throughout the dance. It was actually one of the best character interactions we've encountered there so we've not crossed it off our list.

We usually do goofy's dinner at least once per trip, and a few times have even eaten their twice on one trip. I doubt we'll book it twice in one trip but we'll definitely do it again.

I've been going there since when it first opened (when it was in a different location...yeah, a million years ago!) & I've yet to have dinner there.

I've never been for brunch. We went for dinner for the first time a few weeks ago and I was very very impressed with the food. DH and my mom were also impressed with the food. The prime rib and yukon gold mashed potatos and asparagus were the favorites for our group I'd say. And DD (2.5) loved the peanut butter pizza of course. But really the food was much better than I thought it would be. Plenty of selection. I had a warm pasta/tortellini dish, a cold pasta dish in a pesto type sauce, ceasar salad, prime rib, mashed potatos, asparagus, some fried potstickers...I know I ate more but thats what I remember. We now plan on going for dinner on our arrival day everytime we visit DL!

We have always loved dinner. I enjoy doing an early dinner so that I have time to enjoy an evening at the park. The variety and quality has always been very good for us. We've also always enjoyed wonderful character interaction. We have done breakfast twice at Goofy's and dinner around 10 times with a reservation for dinner in a few weeks!


I've always enjoyed the mashed potatoes, prime rib, seafood/fish selections and the salads. The last couple of times I have eaten there, they had these incredible glazed pecans on the salad bar as well as pesto which was nice. I have also enjoyed the Asian and Mexican items too. And my kids (and husband ) love the kids table with the popcorn shrimp, pb&j pizza, cheese pizza and mac and cheese.

In six years, we've never had anything but a wonderful dinner at GK, its a tradition each trip.

I am so glad the dinner reviews are good, we are going for the first time for dinner on Dec 5, and the main reason is for prime rib!

Thank you for this post. I've been trying to decide which meal we were going to have at GK when we go in December. I think I'm leaning towards dinner now so that we don't waste a morning doing food.

It's actually pretty easy to take the monorail to DTD from the park and back/

I know. But it is our arrival day, so we will have to check into the hotel that afternoon too. We did dinner at DTD on our arrival day last trip. Dinner was at 5 and we didn't end up back in the park until almost 8. DD4 was crashed out by 9:20 (yes 5 minutes before the fireworks!) so it pretty much wiped out our evening.

Ok, I will be different.

We have done Goofy's for dinner 3 times now and have been less than impressed each time. I don't know why we keep returning, I guess we keep hoping it will get better.

Seems like there are fewer characters at dinner and we felt rushed each time. The food - ah ok and I am not picky at all. One year the fish made me really sick for about 24 hours.

we just came back yesterday and had dinner at Goofy's during our stay. I would have to say it is one of the worst buffets we have eaten at, when you consider they price $34 for kids over 10, it makes it even worse. We have eaten at various buffets over the years from $8 to $75 at both DL and WDW as well as Vegas at numerous hotels and resorts, and this stands out as the worst. And I am taking into consideration that it is Disney.

The prime rib was ok, but most everything else was below average. The desserts were embarrassingly bad. Cupcakes, a cherry danish that was actually apples in cherry flavouring, bread and butter pudding and average brownie. The character interaction was ok, but only after we had to request (twice) for the characters to visit, since we only had 2 visit in the first hour. IT just wasn't Disney standard. We ended up having to hang around after having eaten, to wait for the characters.

I cannot put this down to a bad night, the food would be very similar each day, and I cannot see how it would be much better any other night than the one we visited. I was really surprised how average the food was considering how highly many people on DIS go on about Goofy's Kitchen being the best character meal.

I appreciate people have different opinions in regards to food, but there is a standard that each place should reach. If you are paying just for the characters then so be it, but don't expect to get a decent meal.

Sorry to be so negative, but our experience actually put as off doing any other character meals.
