Twenty days ago this family lost their loved one to a senseless shooting. Today they say their final goodbye to the loved. To this family he was a daddy, grandpa, husband, son and very beloved brother.
I've been with family easily 40 hours of the last 3 days. I've seen them go through two army ceremonies and two four hour wakes and one federal memorial. This family has never uttered an ugly word or shown anything but dignity and grace throughout it all. My heart breaks for them and when they stand tall trying to fight back the tears, I sit in the back and shed some for them.
Today this proud, loving family will lay to rest their soldier. It will be the hardest ceremony yet no doubt.
Tomorrow when you are with your family enjoy your special day please remember those that will have an empty seat at the dinner table and a heavy heart for the loved one not there. Thank you all for your support and ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on when I need it.
