Need good thoughts and vibies rights. :( small update

I'm glad everyone is OK. Hopefully it was just the lint trap.

I have to ask though....what is "vibies rights?":confused3

I'd like to know this, too. That's one expression I've never heard and even assuming there was a typo somewhere, I can't imagine what it could be! :confused3

I'm so sorry this happened to your brother and his family. I'm sure that regardless of the cause, they are devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Wow I'm so sorry. I really hope that it was accidental and not on purpose. Our house burned down in November and it was truly one of the most devastating things that has happened to us.

Glad no one was hurt. My friends sisters house recently burned to the ground. Devastating to think of having nothing but the pj's you escaped in.

Add me. What is vibies rights?

Did she mean "good vibes, alright?"

I was guessing, "prayers and good vibes right now."
I'm sorry about the loss of the home, glad everyone was okay, and truly truly hoping there was no foul play involved. That's to horrible to even contemplate out loud, I think, so hopefully everyone in the family will be able to withold judgment until the facts come out.

Sorry guys that was a typo I was shaking when I did that. I meant good vibes!!! :goodvibes

I'm not religious so I said that. anyway everyone is much better now but they are staying with my parents. I am worried as SIL has already tried to get my dad's SS# twice already.

Yes my parents did tell them when they got there. SIL left as soon as it got daylight and didn;t come back till late in the day and when she did get back she didn't help or even step back into the house. She stayed outside and talked to the neighbors. She had NO emotion what so ever except to laugh with the neighbors. The whole day was crazy.

Yes that is what I meant. I do hope she didn't do anything either. Really I do because to think a mother could do something like that with her kids in the house is just beyond me. I will do a huge sigh of relief if she didn't.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know two people, one was family, who lost a home in a fire. It is the things you can't insure that are the worst. A television or computer can be replaced, you baby pictures can not. Ultimately it is good news that no one was hurt though.

I stopped letting my dryer run when I'm not home because of stories I have heard about them causing fires. Of course if it starts while I am here it could still burn the place down but I have a detector literally right over the dryer and an extinguisher so hopefully I could get it out quickly.

Hopefully it isn't what you think. A fire is so hard to control even for professionals so to set one with your kids in the house and hope it doesn't harm them should mean 25 to life if guilty.

We still don;t know if it was intentional or not. However my brother is convinced she set it. He said that she went to bed and then about 30 min. later she got up to take a shower, this is about 12:30 at night. He said there were towels in the dryer and they were already dry so no need to have the dryer on. He said she was done for quite some time and came back and about 2 mins later the smoke alarms went off.

This is my brother opinion about what happened. He thinks she took her lighter and set the lint in the dryer on fire after she got out of the shower. We all know how fast a fire can spread. I am still waiting to see what the fair dpt. and the insurance says. I don't know, I'm only saying what my brother said.

But what I do know is that it is very weird for her to take a shower that late at night or why would she get in bed and then get out to take a shower?? Plus she used the hall shower and not the master shower in the their bed room. :confused3

ETA: What I do know is that when we went to talk to the prosecuting atterny yesterday he told her that if she didn;t have the money by yesterday she would be coming in for sentencing and it would be at least 10 years.

Can I ask a silly question? Why is your brother married to someone he's (1) unwilling to help out paying for her restitution and (2) suspects torched the house?

Those are very good questions and I don't have an answer, I wish I did. I think he is just as guilty for not doing something about his situation. I have told him and my parents the same thing. He has had plenty of time to take care of this. I don;t understand anymore than you. But I feel so bad that those kids are in that situation, but what can I do? He has to WANT to do something.

I'm so sorry for what your brother and his kids are going through. But I don't think insurance will pay if one of the homeowner's set the fire and the money certainly can't be used for something else. She'll be able to add insurance fraud to her other charges. :sad2:

Sure it can. Once they determine the insurance company determines the amount of money required to cover the contents, they will just cut a cheque to the homeowupolicies also cover living expenses (rental accomodation, hotel, etc) for a set period of time while they rebuild the house.

The money for the house itself is paid first to the lender/mortgage holder. They are listed as the beneficiary in the "Loss Payable" section.

That is sick, she needs some kind of help badly assuming she did it. So does your brother, but I am sure you already know that.

I don't think that's wierd. If I can't sleep or I wake up not feeling well, I sometimes get up and take a shower. It's relaxing. And I'll use the hall shower so I don't wake my husband up.

Seems innocent enough to me.

So you're saying that you and your brother think your SIL took a shower in the middle of the night so that she would have damp towels to put in the dryer? So she could light the lint in it on fire? While her children were asleep in the house? Interesting.

Look at it this way--if they lock her up for not paying the restitution, she'll have somewhere to stay despite her house being burned down.

Yeah but when she never uses the hall shower or never gets up that late to take a shower, it does raise an eye brow.

I don;t think she did for the money, she knew from the beginning that she wouldn't get the money as it is a homeowner financing through someone else. this other owns the house and was owner financing it to my brother in his name only not SIL b/c SIL left my brother at this time and went to TX for a few months. I think she did it to get sympathy from the court but it didn't work. OF course this is my opinion. this whole thing is sick. I don;t know if we will ever know if she did or not but my brother is very convinced she did it. But if she does end up going to jail over what she did before this then I think they need to leave it alone and let her just do her time and let her fade away.

I'm not as convinced as my brother but he is very sure she did it. I tend to wait for prove before I make my final conclusion.
