need golf cart advice

Going Monday to look at purchasing a used Golf Cart. Is there anything special I need to look at or check. Its Electric, has the charger, some of the batteries arent holding a charge and will need replaced. But the price reflects that... thanks Steve

You're going to get a lot of mixed reactions. I personally prefer Club Car over E-Z Go, but that's just my opinion. If the batteries are drained/dead to the point you cannot drive it first, walk away from the deal. There may be a lot more wrong with the cart than just the batteries.

You might want to call a golf cart rental company and see what kind of deal you can get on a re-furbished one before you buy a pig in a poke from a private seller. Yes, I'll cost more in the beginning, but could save you a boodle of $$$ in repairs.

Part of the deal was to test drive it and I had to be able to drive it up on the back of my pickup to bring it home. He told me the batteries hold a charge but not for as long as they should.

Figure that on just about any used golf cart, you will soon have to replace the batteries, unless they obviously just were replaced or it is a newer cart. That is usually the reason someone is getting rid of it, dumping the cart before having to replace the batteries again, taking that money and the sale of the cart to put towards buying a new or nearly new cart.

1985 E-Z-Go has a outdated resistor coil for the Throttle not like the newer Carts that have a electronic controller to do the same. It will cost you thousands to bring that cart up to date. Just move on and fined a newer model that needs less work. Sorry
