Okay, Christmas is over and now it is time to think about family birthday's. We have 9 family birthdays in the coming weeks and one of them is my dad. He will be 79 and he has everything and what he doesn't have he doesn't want. I am out of ideas and would love to hear yours. (He doesn't have any real hobbies either, so I can't go that route. Keep in mind also that I live in Italy and whatever I buy needs to be bought online). Thanks!

Restaurant gift cards? Some of the newly released DVDs of classic movies?

Actually, Dan gave me an idea. One year, my boys bought my Mom tapes of old radio shows. She listened to them. She really enjoys the very simple personal CD player we bought her. She loves listening to music like Charlotte Church & the 3 Tenors. Would your Dad like to listen to CDs or tapes?

Fruit of the month club is nice, especially for someone who may have a fixed income. I had a roommate in college who recieved this from his uncle and it was one of the most memorable gifts. So good! The fruit was incredible, better than we could find in the stores even if we could part with our meager money to buy it. Healthy, yummy, comes right to your door. what more could you want?

For my Dad's 70th I had each of the seven grandkids write 10 reasons why he is a wonderful grandfather. I then stuck it in a scrapbook, reasons on one page, pictures of him and that grandkid on the next. I am craft impaired, so this wasn't a difficult project just a bit time consuming. Each kid emailed me their list or my own kids typed it up, my youngest hand wrote hers. There were so many funny, poignant reasons that we had forgotten about. I got a scrapbook at the craft store, some fancy paper for each kid -- football for the player, techie paper for the one into electronics, dogs for the puppy lover. I borrowed some fancy scissors from my neighbor and cut the pictures. I ran off the lists on fancy paper. It took me about 7 hours straight of working on it, I basically stayed up all night. I thought my Dad would get teary-eyed but the tears flowed and flowed. It was the best. My Mom says he carried it around for weeks showing everyone. It was titled 70 Reasons Why We Love Our Poppy.

Great gifts if he likes popcorn
We got a gift from them for christmas and I had their popcorn balls previously & everything is wonderful. Nice presentation too.

Also my dad loves getting steaks and steakburgers from www.omahasteaks.com or I also ordered kansas city steaks for him from www.qvc.com.

qvc has other foods likes Junior's cheesecakes (which I love) and Chesapeake Bay crabcakes
