DD#2, age 10, saved up and bought a Gamecube system. She has the Harvest Moon game. I need suggestions for the grandparents for Christmas. Thanks.

Our DD (6) has loved Mario Sunshine and Animal Crossings...there may have been more, but I don't play them with her..DH does. I do think Animal Crossings is neat. You work to get money then buy things for your home. You can also send mail to each other.

I love the Gamecube. It is the best system by far for children. All the Mario games are good, along with MarioKart, Animal Crossing, Spongebob and all that good stuff. The graphics are great, and if they don't want to get just games it has all kinds of accessories to add to it. You can never have enough memory cards and the wireless controller is great. Just when they are looking for games to make sure they have the appropriate rating. E for everyone is the best for kids. Have Fun.

Oh my, my favorite system and topic! I just love it when people come in at work and want suggestions for Gamecube. First and foremost, look at nintendo.com as they have all thier games there and you can get a better idea it our suggestions are on par for your DD.

I LOVE Annimal Crosings! It is truly a super neat game that even you might want to play with her. You do errands and such to get money and furniture. Eventually you catch fish and bugs and either sell them or donate them to the museum.

Donkey Konga is new game that everyone is raving about. It comes with a set of kongas and is very interactive.

Mario Kart Double Dash is a cute racing game that is suitable for all ages.

Paper Mario 2 is one that I have not seen, but know is supposed to be real popular.

All the Harry Potter games are good, if she likes HP.

I also like Mario Golf and Zelda.

Also, she can always use memory cards, extra controllers, and if she has a Gameboy, something called a Gameboy Player. It allows her to play all of her Gameboy games on the Gamecube. I strongly recommend only using Nintendo made products. The generics are cheaper, but we do get a lot of returns on them at my store.

As far as the ratings go, you can look at this http://www.esrb.com/ to get a better idea on the difference between "E" and "T" I feel that there are some of the "T" games that are OK for 9-10 year olds, but that is my opinion. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, as this is what I do at work every night.

What kind of game player is she?

Buy... "StarFox Adventures", "Zelda", "Super Smash Brothers", Alot of people like "Animal Crossings" (I just haven't gotten "into" it).

Now we play "Pikmin" here. I am playing "Pikmin 2". But it is my 8yodd and I that are playing it. 13yo dd doesn't care for it too much.

Rent..."Luigi's Mansion" very fun, not worth buying unless it has come down in price to 20 bucks. That game can be beaten in a weekend. Rent the $40 games if you are unsure about whether to buy them or not.

I didn't care for "Super Mario Sunshine" We bought it but none of us got into that game.

I cannot beat the 1st level in "Star Wars"...they are hard.

Don't forgot she will need another controller and memory cards!!! And they are not cheap!

I think Animal Crossing is the cutest thing I have seen in video gaming! I vote Grandma & Grandpa start with that one!! It's not all just cute stuff.....she also has to deal with the personality of all the characters! I have had fun watching my son deal with them. ;)

Where to begin...:o

Mariokart Double Dash is so much fun..Can play with 4 people...possible 8 if you have 2 gamecubes..

Animal Crossing--Very addicting..no violence..

Starfox Adventures was fun too..

The Legend of Zelda--Wind Waker is very good...graphics are awesome..can't wait to start Legend of the Four Swords

Super Mario Sunshine is neat too..

If you are okay with fighting games, Super Smash Brothers Melee is good..

MUST have memory cards to save your progress on everything..

Wireless controllers are nice..i've heard at least...

When I was at ToyRUs yesterday they had a awesome deal for Game Boy Advance SP for $99
You got the SP, a game and a bonus pack with all that extra crap in it..It was like a $160 deal..:earseek: ..but I already picked up SP's for my girls for Christmas so I didn't get it...:(

Shep ~ How long ago did you buy the SP's? Your store should be able to give you the deal if you have your receipt, and you bought them within the past 45 days. If nothing else (again receipt & 45 days) return them and re-buy them with the promo! (this is coming from a TRU "R-Zone" employee!)

I would not buy one now or until closer to christmas because of the DS is coming out on Nov 21(the new handheld by nintendo)oops forgot to complete my sentence and I think they will be another price drop or at least major incentives to buy an SP.

Gamecube games

Animal Crossing! by all means but you will need the quidebook Great Game and if she likes Harvest Moon she will love AC!!!

http://animal-crossing.com/index.jsp

most everyone has this one for around 19.95 now it comes with a memory card

Super Mario Sunshine another great game(disagree with above poster we love it)

Pikmin and Pikmin2 both great games

Luigi's Mansion again I disagree great fun and well worth buying

I also like the Haunted Mansion although alittle harder

Ty the Tansmanian Tiger and Ty2 are also very fun games

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

Disney Magicial Mirror

Wallace and Grommit Project Zoo

all the above games with the exception of Pikmin2 have been out for awhile and can be bought for $19.95 or under just shop around

The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker another great game but I don't care for the new Zelda game

We have 50+Games and these are the ones we play the most.

another suggestion esp with Animal Crossing only use Nintendo Products! Do you risk losing your game data with an off brand memory card.

Also we have found the non Nintendo controllers will sometimes walk by themselves.

But we just about only use our two "WaveBirds" they are wireless so no danger of pulling the Cube off and it hitting the floor.

Got them in June...I had a $100 Gift Certificate I wanted to use before I Lost to Best Buy(got this when i bought big screen in January) & had a $75 Circuit City Gift card when I got satellite dish in January...They had a promotion going on where you got a $20 gift card with purchase at Circuit City and I had Best Buy match it...

I was at Circuit City yesterday & picked up Zelda 4 swords adventure for $20...It was mispriced(I seen it with that price on it sunday & didn't get it and decided to see if it was still priced that way thursday and they had 2 games that were priced wrong.. ..went to pay for it and it rang up $49.99..went to store manager and he gave it to me for price that was on it..:smooth:

Maleficent2--why don't you like new zelda?:(
I have yet to play it...

I am hooked on Skies of Arcadia & Goblin Commander right now..:o

hi

the graphics are crappy...which I quess is my real problem with it. Looks like you are playing a Gameboy game.

DS likes it.

Great buy at $20 but we paid not full price but really close can not remember exactly.

Have not played either of those...tell me about them!

I am a cube addict! and my name is.......

I agree about Animal Crossing, my 7 year old loves it! :) Both my 7 and 5 year olds have an SP and also a GameCube with the attachment to play the Gameboy games on the Gamecube!

My 5 year old loves:
Kirby Air Ride
Mario Kart
Sabrina The Teenage Witch
Yoshi's Island (which I love myself!! :p)
Alice In Wonderland (which is actually a Game Color Game that she plays on her Gameboy)

My 7 year old loves:
Animal Crossing
Any Mario Game, especially the classic game
Mario Vs. Donkey Kong
Spiderman 1 and 2
Crash Bandicoot

Tell me about Yoshi's Island

I love Yoshi in Super Mario Sunshine what is the game like?

Animal Crossing is one of my favourites! I'm still missing a couple fish and bugs from my museum's collection :p

I also like Pikmen, Zelda Windwaker (I like the mini games) and Mario Golf.

Mario Party 5 is great when you have a few friends over. Lots of mini games!

Has anyone tried Paper Mario yet?

Kirby is fun! I asked DS, he says if she's a typical girl he can't
guess what she will really want. His favorite games though are Super Smash Brothers and NFL2003 or NCAA 2004(both football).

I liked Harvest Moon but it didn't have enough action for DS.

Mal, Yoshi's Island is quite addicting!! I think so anyway! :) It is like any other Mario game where you have so many levels in each world. You (Yoshi) have to carry baby mario through each level, without losing him along the way! :) It is quite fun and my kids love it as well! :p Like anything else, the more worlds you go through, the harder it gets! :) Give it a try, it is fun! :)

You should have waited and bought the Nintendo DS. They're releasing Animal Crossing and a new version like Mario 64 for it next month.
