Hi everyone! We are planning a cruise on the Magic in December out of Miami. We will need to fly into and out of Ft Lauderdale. Can anyone help me with hotel recommendations, and gettting to the port from there? We would like a hotel on the beach if at all possible, with a shuttle. Has anyone done this?:)

There are some suggestions here: http://disboards.com/threads/fort-lauderdale-hotels.3442921/#post-54335317

You'd have to check with the beach hotels to see about shuttles from/to airport and port. Having taken a hotel shuttle from the airport and then to the cruise port, I'll tell you that I'd just take a cab in the future especially if there are more than two of you.

It's all SO close; closer than it looks on the map (and it looks pretty close on maps). If I were there and had time for the beach, I'd definitely stay on the beach, at the Westin or some place like that. :)

I like looking at hotels.com, putting in the area and clicking to submit, then clicking to see the map view. That way you can see all the hotels in the area and read about them and see reviews, etc.

We have done this once and are doing the same again next year. We flew into and out of Ft Lauderdale, and took SAS transpo to the Holiday Inn Biscayne Bay in Miami. You can see the port from the hotel and there is an outdoor mall across the street where you can get food. There was also a CVS just down the block where we bought soda. The cab ride to the port was 10 for 2 of us. From the port back to Ft Lauderdale airport we used SAS again. This was very easy and stress free. SAS was also very reasonable.

This is exactly our plan in October. Being across from food and shopping at the Holiday Inn sounds really convenient to us. We weren't looking for beach since we'll be getting in late in the afternoon and there won't be much time and killing a couple extra hours at the mall across the street works for us if we have a little time to spare.

We already have our reservations booked with SAS. They were super prompt getting back to our reservation request. I think the price is reasonable and they are highly recommended on the DIS. For Miami hotels, they only service downtown hotels.

The Miami Heat's arena is right there too, I know not as big of draw without Lebron, but if the timing works out you could catch an NBA game the night before too, although it may cost as much as your cruise lol
