Need food box ideas

I disagree. If this box is supposed to be a gift for the kids, then it needs to have kid stuff in it. A 3 and 5 year old are not going to be too excited about being presented with a box of broccoli and chicken.

There is no such thing as "kid food". Real food is what kids should be eating, not sugar/sodium/dye-filled food-like products. A treat here and there is fine, but spaghettios, Cheetos, etc is not food.

Probably in this case, the kids should be eating what makes them comfortable and happy 1st. They had a diet coming from their previous home and compounding the current upheaval in their living situation with a complete change in diet right away might be too much. Easing into change slowly is probably the best way to go...so the biggest thing I'd do is find out their favorites and have those, and then add some healthy stuff surrounding it...

It's an odd gift to "give to kids" a box of food. Unless it is just "treats" it will look like a charity box.

I think clothes or shoes for the kids would be more appropriate. Kids outgrow things quickly.

I remember back in the day when grandparents would give the kids the McDonald Dollars. Do they still do that? If there is a McDonalds with a Playplace nearby that Grandma can take them to to use the McDonalds dollars and Grandma get a little breather while the kids play.

ETA: Looks like McDonald's does not do the old style gift certificate "dollars" but just the plastic gift cards now.

I had completely forgotten about those, they were so much fun. I was coming here to suggest a McDonalds gift card (or other restaurant with a playground attached) for the same reason. Somewhere grandma could take the kids for a treat on a rainy weekend when everyone has had enough of each other.

Wendy's still has the junior frosty key chain, but you have to buy something to use it each time...https://secure3.convio.net/dtfa/sit...EW_PRODUCT=true&product_id=1041&store_id=1221

Of course, I say that and then think BOGO Jr Frosties isn't the worst thing (buy one and get the free one every visit:))...

These are kids that have probably being neglected/abused. Them not not eating the best foods is probably the least of there worries. There kids it's okay for them to eat kids foods.

No, no neglect or abuse, the kids are just fine that way and are very good eaters, they don't live off processed food. I didn't mean to start anything, it's just that she mentioned her grocery bill went from $200 to $500 a month and was just looking for a way to help out a little. I am going to get SOME convenience type foods though to give grandma a break from cooking once in a while.

ETA: they have been with her 3-4 months now so are settled and thriving, there is no "upheaval" or anything, they are adjusting well. But they are both boys and can eat a lot and I know she hosts other family over the holidays and is always feeding people.
