I'm at a loss of what to buy DH for fathers day. It was just his birthday and he doesn't need anything. I bought baseball tickets already, but need some other smaller things to go with it. He doesn't golf or collect anything, no specific hobbies. What has everyone else bought this year? Thanks for any ideas!

I'm not sure what I'll get my dad. I don't get DH anything for Father's Day, but my sons do.

Thank you for the reminder! I'll have to start thinking.

Well, I have a plan for what I'm getting for my dad for his birthday/Father's Day :smokin:, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that not everyone's dad here would enjoy the same thing.

Though I'm not a dad, my loved ones always struggle over what to get me for Christmas or my birthday, since I have everything I want or need and am not much of a collector. I tell them the same thing every year: a basket of snacks (beef jerky, trail mix, cashew nuts, Laffy Taffy, etc.) and to be left alone to play World of Warcraft.

I don't even know when Fathers' Day is. I'm pretty insistent that DW and kids don't get me anything. A hug is all I need. I'd rather DW use the money for the kids, I'm not a material kind of guy. My hobbies are pretty expensive and I like to do those on my own.

OP, if your DH isn't into golfing (I don't either) or have specific hobbies, maybe just a night out?

We got DH a 3D pen, and filaments to go with it.
He's also getting a shaving mug, brush and some shaving soap.
All are on his "someday I want" list, so here they are.

For his birthday/Christmas, he's getting a jump out of an airplane and pray your parachute opens gift. Wanted to do it last year, but he was still over the weight limit. Since February, he's dropped almost 40 lbs (major lifestyle shift, because he developed "the sugars" as he calls it, after the transplant). That puts him just under the limit.

A folding sports wagon. My son plays lacrosse and my husband is a coach. There is a lot of gear, chairs, coolers, etc. to lug around.

I like this photo I saw a few years ago.

I'm getting dh ramps so he can get the dirt bikes and riding mower onto the back of the truck without giving me a heart attack because his current method doesn't appear at all safe.

Our twenty something year old daughters like to keep my husband a little more fashion current than he would do on his own. He normally resists but last year they got him a PFG shirt for hot weather. He is constantly wearing that so I think more may be given this year along with baseball tickets.

I got my dad a camp chair that has a canopy. He used to use one with his gf, but they broke up and she kept the chairs. :rotfl2: He likes going to local festivals and watching live music, so now he'll have his own chair.

Speaking as a long-time dad I can tell you Amazon gift cards are always welcome. I know generally women think gift cards are sort of a cop-out, but most guys aren't wired that way. No matter what "dad" is into there is surely something that will suit him on Amazon.

Guys can be so hard to buy for and I completely understand the whole "he doesn't need anything" part of it. My husband is the same way. Honestly, for Father's Day, my husband never really wants anything more than a hug. He is the kind of person that if he needs something, he just purchases it. As a result, my Father's Day gift to him is usually making steak and twice-baked potatoes for him for dinner and then spending the day together as a family hanging out, playing games or watching movies or whatever. However, I know that doesn't help you in your situation, so here are some ideas off the top of my head that may help:
  • seconding the idea of favourite snacks or a gift subscription to Graze (or similar site) I have seen ideas on Pinterest where people have put together "bouquets" of snack items attached to sticks and stuck them into some kind of container. I have seen the same idea done with gift cards.
  • selection of craft beer, wine, or other drinks, even natural root beers or sodas if your husband is into that
  • a variety of hot sauces, barbecue sauces and rubs, or specialty condiments
  • gift cards to places your husband likes to go for lunch (Subway, Dunkin Donuts, etc.)
  • a modern board game to share with the family (so many to choose from, but consider Carcassone, King of Tokyo, Sushi Go, Settlers of Catan, Forbidden Island (a cooperative game), or Ticket to Ride
  • a subscription to Netflix or Amazon Prime if he doesn't already have one
  • take him to an escape room if you have one in your area (or pick up a "home game" version like Thames & Kosmos Exit: The Abandoned Cabin Game (on Amazon) or Escape The Room Secret Of Dr Gravely'S Retreat Game (I think this one might be at Target, but it is for sure available on Amazon)
  • a Leatherman multi-tool (my husband uses his ALL OF THE TIME)
  • a high-powered flashlight
  • new headphones, portable speaker, or back-up battery for his electronics
  • a new wallet (my husband uses his until it loses all structural integrity)
  • a sports blanket
  • "manly" toiletries (lots of stores carry them now)
  • something unique for the house or yard (a fruit tree, bird feeder, yard tool organizer for the garage, etc.)
  • there are TONS of gift box subscription services out there (just do a google search for subscription boxes and see how many options pop up). Boxes specifically catering to men can be found at Subscription Boxes for Men. Perhaps you will get some gift ideas by browsing there.
Good luck picking out something special for him!

These type hats are great, and popular now. My DH isn't much of a hat type guy, but he likes this one. He really likes that it has mesh on the top so there is air circulating around his head. Lots of places sell them. Google men's sun hats.

The gift of being left alone - cheap and seemingly easy to give yet it is still so elusive.

I got my husband a tee that says "Best. Dad. Ever." on it, and a dumb wristband thingy that is magnetic for when he works on the cars or around the house and has loose nuts and bolts to keep track of, and a case of Zapps potato chips, and and a bird identifying book (okay that's really for me!), and I plan to get him a 12 pack of some craft beer. He will be happy with that stuff. I am impossible to buy for, but he is easy.

Does he have power tools? I currently love Ryobi's cordless options. Not just what goes in the workshop... but also the cordless fans, lights, lawn mowers and blowers that makes my life easier.
