I recently purchased a DVC through resale. I do not have any points this year and will get 100 next year. I figured I would need approximately 150 per vacation and I can go around twice every three years.

With my family situation I feel a Disney trip next summer would be the best option in the near future. At the time of the trip I would only have 100 points that would be borrowed available. If I travel to Florida I really would like to spend 1 full week. If that's the case I would need either 23 or 39 extra points (depending on the exact dates I go). What's usually done when you need this many points? Is rental of DVC points a good option? Could I buy the extra this one time direct from DVC or is there a limit? Any other ideas would be great. Thank you.

You can purchase up to 24 one time use points directly from Disney at $15pp per year that will work if you only need 23 more

If you think you will regularly need more points I would add on.

I wouldn't bank on being able to always book the cheapest room category available the standard views go quickly and sometimes you have to spend more points than you anticipated to get into whatever is available. It is often necessary to have a few points more than the absolute minimum you calculate you could get your trip for. Also points are sometimes reassigned by Disney so a room can go up or down a point or so.

Be aware that the 24 one time use points that you can purchase cannot be purchased and used for a reservation until the seven month window opens.
