I start working day shift at my police dispatch jobs this Monday. It's a 12 hour shift 6am-6pm, so I'll be eating breakfast AND lunch there. Anyone have any breakfast ideas that I could either bring, or make there? Thanks!;)

Here are some ideas:

* bagels, waffles
* cereal, oatmeal
* yogurt w/grape nuts and raisins mixed in
* Special K strawberry bars

We love breakfast burritos, and they can be made the night before and reheated in the microwave.
I like mine with eggs, cheese (lots!), and salsa! :love:

my favorite breakfast is 1/2 a medium apple and 2 tbsp peanut butter (can you tell i measure my food? LOL). quick and easy!

I bring 2 meals a day to work as well. I bring oatmeal and fruit, an english muffin and yogurt, a wrap with eggs and veggies that I nuke when I'm ready. fruit and yogurt.

Something else that's quick and easy are South Beach granola bars. They have a lot of protein and vitamins in them, which make them much better for you than a standard granola bar. They make a "snack" granola bar and a "meal replacement" bar. I wouldn't eat them day in/day out, but they're good to have on hand in a pinch.

You'll find the "snack" granola bars with all the typical granola bars. I usually find the "meal replacement" type with the Ensure/Slimfast/etc. stuff.

They're a lot tastier than the other bar I used to eat -- Power Bars. :crazy2:

I also take cottage cheese. It comes in little single-serving containers now.

I like to drink instant breakfast. It is like drinking a milkshake, and it is full of good stuff!

I usually have a yogurt and Kashi granola bar. Both very portable and good for you.

Just some ideas...

- Oatmeal in a thermos (make the oatmeal the night before, nuke just before leaving)
- Yogurt/banana/blueberry/milk/cinnamon/sugar smoothie in a travel mug (silken tofu too if you want the extra protein)
- Whole grain waffle spread with peanut butter and an apple
- Homemade muffins or scones warmed before you leave
- Diet Coke (my choice many warm mornings!)

I'm too tired to think of any more... must stop reading Dis!

Congrats on the job! You are going to love it!!!! I liked to bring cut up fruit, veggies, oatmeal etc. It is very easy to pack on the pounds at that job. Trust me, I speak from experience!:rolleyes1

Quaker makes oatmeal squares that are quick & easy. DD & I are not breakfast eaters but will eat one of these and they're pretty filling. The raspberry streudel is yummy if you warm it up for about 15 sec.

leftovers from dinner the night before,if you have a micro to heat them in.....egg sandwiches-oatmeal(any instant oatmeal will micro in 2-3 minutes,just like in the packets,but cheaper)yogurts-fruits-

I'm sorry that I don't have much in terms of breakfast advice- granola bars, fruit, dry cereal. I wanted to say GOOD LUCK! Ex-Dbf was a police dispatcher for 3 years while waiting to get hired at the department as an officer. I have so much respect for people who can mulitask like that! :goodvibes
