Hi everone,

My dear partner  just realized that I didn't plan on cooking anything tomorrow and is demanding a nice meal. :sad2: I haven't a clue what to cook. She also wants a ham, I attempted to cook a ham for Thanksgiving and it didn't go so well. It's just the two of us, but knowing her she probably expects a full meal.

I need ideas and your true and tried (is that the saying) recipes.

Thanks!

Are grocery stores generally open on Easter, or should I plan on going tonight?

Get your butt in high gear woman! Go shopping tonight!

Shopping list:

A small ham (not can)
5lb. bag of Pot.
Green Giant Niblet Corn ( frozen with the butter sause)
A bag of salad mix, get some dressing to go with it.
Some dinner rolls
7-up
and pick up something for dessert!

Take the ham, put some whole cloves on the top, place in roaster pan, then pour about 2 cups of the 7-up all over the ham. Bake according to the size ofyour ham!

Mashed pot.
Corn
Salad
dinner rolls.

There you have it, a nice meal for the two of you without alot expense or work! So head on over to grocery store :moped: now, Then in the morning get :stir:

Happy Easter!
Dinner rolls

If you don't want to bake ham, why don't you get a large slice (I don't know - maybe they're called "ham steaks") and fry it? Serve with a couple of sides and call it done.

Do you have a Costco near you? If so, they have presliced spiral hams. All you do is put the ham in a baking dish, and add on the sauce-the packet is already in with the ham and you just mix it with water. If you want you can also add pineapple chunks and cherries.

Garlic mashed potato, dinner rolls, a tossed salad, and dessert.

Just set out some candles, and get a nice spring floral arrangement.

:lmao: :lmao: it took me a while to figure out that 5lb bag of pot was short for potatoes, I was staring at the screen saying to myself, we don't do pot :sad2:

Does the 7 up on the ham make it tender, my last ham was hard as a rock.

We have a costco and a sams club but I work until 10 pm, I doubt I can talk my partner into doing the shopping. Maybe Safeway has a good spiral ham. But her being as picky as she is, she probably wants a real one.

What are some easter desserts?

Dessert - cake or cupcakes decorated with tinted coconut and jelly beans.

:sunny:

Could you get a premade easter meal from one of the grocery stores?
Since you are working till late and she still wants a meal, I would say that would be the easiest for you to put together.

Recipe for Easter Dinner:

-Get in Car
-Go to Honey Baked Ham Store
-Buy Ham Dinner with sides
-Go Home and eat

You both are welcome over here! :thumbsup2

Surely some markets must be open late night, can you call in an order directly or through PeaPod?
Grab some exotic cheeses & specialty crackers
Or those pre-packed fresh cut up fruit, if you're feeling ambitious toss that with some flavored yogurt or poppyseed dressing~

How about coloring some eggs?

Happy Easter all!

Jean

Buy a spiral sliced ham. All you gotta do is warm it up!

Stuffing - Stove top works great in a pinch and takes 5 minutes to make.

Mashed potatoes - can't screw those up!

Gravy

Corn or green beans

Dinner rolls

Color some eggs... If I don't see another egg for a month I will be happy. I volunteered to color 40 dozen eggs.

I like the cheese and cracker idea though.

I've never heard of a poppyseed dressing, is it good? A fruit salad seems nice.

How about potato salad, is that an Easter dish, how do you make it?

I like that idea, but I work until 10 pm, I think it's a bit risky showing up the day of with a full meal, have you seen that place, it's a mad house, but I do like their mustard.

Think I will call them right now

I will call and find out about this as well, great idea, thanks!

SunFloridaDisney Dessert - cake or cupcakes decorated with tinted coconut and jelly beans.

Stupid question I know, but does the coconut come tinted, or is there some special way to tint the coconut.

Not sure if you have an Albertson's near you, but ours is open tomorrow.

With all that pot, you might want to pick up some munchies while you are at the store ;) :rotfl2:

icebrat, I apologize for giggling at you but admit I have tonight! You need to watch some FoodNetwork!! (esp. a show called How to Boil Water!! ;) )

I bought a cooked spiral sliced ham and warmed it 10 mins. per pound at 325 degrees.
Making mashed potatoes.
BirdsEye makes new frozen veggies that you steam in the bag! Super easy a good (DD will eat the peas like candy!!) I'm having peas.
Yeast rolls (Sister Shubert's frozen)

Pound cake for dessert.

Super easy because I thought I was going to be alone but now I'm up to 5 people.

lol at the foodnetwork suggestion. I admit, I cook the same 14 meals over and over again, all chicken or ground turkey. If it's not one of those, I can't cook it.

Are you making a pound cake from scratch?

Sara Lee makes a good pound cake and all you need to add is some fresh strawberries and some Redi Whip whipped cream. :thumbsup2

If you are in New Jersey....consider this a formal invitation to join us for a fabulous Easter meal.

:rotfl2: who me? :rotfl:

Nope. It is from a box. Just add eggs and water. But I used my fancy-shmancy Kitchen-Aid mixer I just HAD to have a few years back. (I still love it actually--like a piece of artowrk on my countertop)

14 meals? That's pretty good! I feel like I cook the same things over and over way too often. It is just easier that way. ;)

Have fun!!
