I decided to call today for pricing information for our trip later this summer. I hadn't planned on booking but by the end of the call figured what was I waiting for. I ended up booking a standard room and once I got off the phone I realized that for an additional $216 I could have booked the Dlx View (lower level, resort pool view). Now I'm debating calling back and changing my reservation. Has anyone stayed in a standard room or dlx view resort pool view recently? Is a standard view basically a view of the parking lot?

Also, which building is the closest to Disneyland?

Thanks everyone in advance for your help!:)

Yes a standard view is the parking lot from the Fantasy tower looking north or the Frontier Tower looking South. You view could be in any of the three towers.

Adventure is the closest tower to the parks.

My boyfriend and I just stayed at the DLH earlier this month in the Fantasy Tower. We were told that we had a standard view room at check-in, but we were pleasantly surprised by this view when we stepped into our room:

This has to be the pool view.

We also stayed at the hotel in the same tower in May of 2009 (pre-renovation) and had a standard view room. Here is our view from 2 different angles:

No parking lot from our view; however, I believe the large majority of standard view rooms have parking lot views. In any case, your view of anything exciting or interesting will be obstructed in a standard view room.

As skiingfast said, the Adventure Tower is the closest to the parks. I believe it is also the only tower where you have any chance of seeing fireworks from your room.

Just my two cents...

I'd take the money you save by staying in the Standard room and pocket it (or more likely, just spend it in the park). My theory is that for the 12 seconds a day I'll be looking out the window, paying extra for a park view is not worth it. I'd rather be out enjoying the park than looking at it from my room.

To each their own, and there really isn't a right or wrong answer to your question.
