I'm staying at ASM starting this Saturday the 19th. Our flight doesn't get in until evening. Is there anywhere at the resort or DTD that I can purchase distilled water? Or do I just need to order from Garden Grocer?

My dh used Turner Drug, http://turnerdrug.com/ , which delivered to our resort back in August 08 with a small fee. I recommend calling ahead of time due to the hours.

My DD and DSIL ended up taking some distilled water on the plane with them. They figured it would be a hassle but the TSA folks knew exactly what the machine and water are for and didn't bat an eye. I can't believe Disney doesn't sell it anywhere cause so many people need it. But, apparently, Disney doesn't stock it. If you're ordering alot of stuff, Garden Grocer is supposed to be good but they have a $40 minimum order.

I usually end up using the hot water in the lobby for tea, I was told I could use boiled water if I was stuck so I figured that was close enough LOL Plus you should be too excited to sleep anyways you're in Disney

I just used 2 empty water bottles I had lying around the house and put distilled water from home in them and packed them in my suitcase. 2 16-oz bottles were exactly enough for 9 nights.

Oops, my bad! My DH just told me that the type of distilled water sold in the resorts are the "Smart water", which has electrolytes in the water. So the water is not 100% pure. Local supermarkets in the WDW area probably sell the water for less than $1.00 for the gallon. There's a Hess gas station by DTD. They might carry distilled water. I would definitely give them a call to see if it is available first.

My dh just uses tap water in his CPAP - I didn't know anything about needing distilled water for it. He's actually only used the humidifier add-on twice since he's had - when he was sick - so I'm sure the tap water didn't hurt it any.

Not sure if you feel you *must* use the humidifier with the CPAP machine, but my DH needs it only in the winter, because the heat in the house is on, thus, he gets dried out. In FL it is more humid, so he didn't need to worry about the water part anyway.

I agree with OP who suggested putting distilled water in large water bottles and check it with luggage...this is a good idea.:thumbsup2

Also wanted to say the we took his CPAP machine on as carry-on luggage just in case out luggage got lost...didn't want him not sleeping well in WDW until the luggage would arrive!

When we travel my husband leaves the humidifier part at home so then we don't need to worry about the water.

You are allowed to bring distilled water with you on the plane since it is for a medical reason. You need to separate it from the other items and tell the security people why you need it. It may need 'special' handling at the xray machine. This is all explained on the tsa web site.

I will either try taking it with me through security. I just found out we might have a friend there on business that we can maybe twist his arm to take us to the store.

It will be interesting to see if I need the water with the high humidity.

I do know that the cpap machine is NOT considered a carry on or part of your checked baggage allowance. Last summer I started to pack and realized it took up half of my suitcase. I then called the airlines. What relief to find out I could carry it on.

I'm so excited I have the rest of today and tomorrow to pack then off to WDW on Saturday. It seems like I've been waiting/ planning forever.

I didn't go through much water, but I'm so used to warm air, that I can't sleep without the humidifier.

A few days of using tap or bottled water will not harm your CPAP. Distilled water is recommended in order to prevent the buildup of lime and minerals found in regular tap water. These would accumulate in your hummidifiers water chamber over a long period of time. I have used tap water many times when I run out of distilled water at home. On trips I have often gone a week using tap water. I have had my Cpap for 3 years and just now replaced my water chamber for the first time. In Vegas I did get distilled water from their laundry as they didn't sell it in the store. So if you stay at a resort with laundry services, you could try that.

I will have some distilled water waiting for you when you check in. PM me and let me know your name.

When we went in August, I packed up a box of "stuff" - sunscreen, food, etc. and added in a water bottle filled with distilled water - and sent it down a week before via FedEx Ground. It was only a 16.9 oz bottle which wasn't quite enough for my CPAP for our 6 nite stay, but there was only one night where I needed to use "regular" water.

If you pack two 16.9 oz bottles in your checked baggage, you should be fine. Just pack it in a plastic bag and put both bottles in another larger plastic bag to prevent against spillage.

Also, you can carry your CPAP on as carry-on baggage and it does NOT count against your carry-on total. So if your airline lets you carry on a purse and one carry-on item, you can take your CPAP and still have a purse and a carry-on item. My sleep center said you should NEVER check your CPAP or just toss it up into the overhead bin.
