DD has to do a tropical rainforest diorama and she is allowed to you pre-made objects. Any suggestions on where we can get little plastic animals to put in there. She needs a toucan, monkey, jaguar, reptiles, pigs (wild boar)....you get the picture.

I'm drawing a blank on how to proceed. I'm thinking it may be easier to get the constuction paper and have her just make them. :goodvibes

Try the Dollar Store, Dollar Tree, etc. I know I have seen little bags of plastic "Jungle Animals" in ours. I have also seen small plastic animals for sale in our Target, but they were sold individually and were a little more expensive.

How about looking for some clip-art of any animals you can't find? You could print them out and she could glue them to the scenery in the diorama.

Don't stores like Toys R Us sell these? I can't remember what they are called, but they are in a clear plastic tube. They fill the tube with various animals of a particular region. You could probably also find this at a local educational toy store or zoo gift shop.

You can use these, print them out, and cut out bits and pieces of them, if this will help. :) They are free samples from the Dover books website.

You guys are fabulous. I needed a kick start for my brain. Now I'm like "DUH"!!!. Thanks so much. :goodvibes

We found small plastic animal at Target. There were several sets of small animals in small clear tubes in the toy aisle.

I have seen diorama kits at Michaels. They had small packages of animals, men, trees, all kinds of things. They also have tubes of small animals. Dollar tree and Walmart have already been mentioned. Good luck, I HATE HATE HATE dioramas!

I have used florist moss for bushes and trees, too.

I love diorama's. I am sad that at 10 DS has almost out grown them. You could use leftover tinsel from the tree for rain coming down.

We always got our animals at the craft store. We would also mold them from clay if we couldn't find what we needed.
