Need Dining Plan and Restaurant Advice Please.

Okay, I have a few questions...

1.) I heard that the dining plan no longer covers an appetizer for the table service meal. Is this correct? How about dessert? I know that the tip is no longer included (it was when we got the dp in Dec. 05). Does the counter service include a drink and a dessert?

2.) I need some good suggestions for counter service meals besides Flame Tree BBQ in AK. Any advice here would be great. Not huge on pizza, hamburgers and chicken fingers every day.

3.) Again, when we got the dp back on our dec. 05 trip the way they did the meal plan was....if there were four of us paying and we were staying for seven days we got 28 table service, 28 counter service and 28 snacks. However, even though two of those plans were for our kids and we paid the kid price, there was no distinction on the card if you were deducting a kid meal or an adult meal? Is this still the case? In other words, will we get 28 of each meal type, or will we get 14 adult of each meal type and 14 of each kid meal type? Just wondering, cause last time we were figuring that they would lose money on that if people used the table service for extra adult meals and just paid for the kid meals which were fairly reasonably priced. anybody know?

4.), lastly, we are staying for eight days and I need some "musts' for dinner. I already have Mickeys BY BBQ, Whispering Canyon, 50s Prime time, Capt. Jacks, Hoop Dee Do, Crystal Palace and Le Cellier. these were some of our favorites from last time. We are also considering Boma, one of the princess meals (any suggestions here would be great as this is our first time with a child interested in princesses), and Mama Melroses. We aren't sure about these last ones. does anyone know which italian rest. is the most popular? also I hear people talking about narcoossees or something like that. Is that worth going to?

sorry so long, but we had such a great experience with our last trip with the dining plan, I am hoping for another streak of luck.

Thanks.
Kelly

Hi:)
There have been quite a few changes to the DDP. Adult and child credits are no longer pooled.. so your children will order from a child's menu if they are under 9 (I think it's 9).
The tip and appetizer are no longer included.. but dessert is.
If you come on over to the Restaurant board and repost this you will probably get many more responses. As well there is a 2008 DDP FAQ thread that will answer all of your questions. (it's a sticky at the top):)

Okay, I have a few questions...

1.) I heard that the dining plan no longer covers an appetizer for the table service meal. Includes entree, dessert and non alcoholic beverage OR Full buffet and non alcoholic beverage ...Does the counter service include a drink and a dessert? includes entree or combo meal, beverage and dessert

3.) Adults and children credits are separate; children are to order off the children's menu if there is one available

4.), I hear people talking about narcoossees or something like that. Is that worth going to? We loved this place, our favorite meal of the trip. you keep talking about "days"; your DP is credits are based on the number of nights you stay, not days thereThanks.
Kelly

Hope that helps

Thanks pigletto. Is there a way to move my post over without retyping it? Im not that great with the posting stuff.
also, what you mean they are not "pooled' anymore?

Go to the Disney Rest. thread. It's amazing how much info you can get. It's good stuff

Hmmm...
I am not sure exactly how you could repost. On my computer I just copy and paste. So you copy your thread.. go to the dining board, select the option to start a new thread and paste into the new window.
And by pooled I just meant that now you have child credits and adult credits, instead of just a set number of credits for four people. So kids under a certain age have to order kids meals.:)

2.) I need some good suggestions for counter service meals besides Flame Tree BBQ in AK. Any advice here would be great. Not huge on pizza, hamburgers and chicken fingers every day. I know you said no burgers, but do consider Pecos Bills in MK you get very good portions, so it could be a sharing opportunity. Also, we had very good CS at Mexico. Can't remember the name of the place! We also thought the selections at The Land ( where Soarin is) was very good for a CS. They have some "different" choicesbut the desserts are yummy too.

3.) Again, when we got the dp back on our dec. 05 trip the way they did the meal plan was....if there were four of us paying and we were staying for seven days we got 28 table service, 28 counter service and 28 snacks. Someone already answered the child/adult breakdown, but to answer the question about number of meals, it is based on NIGHTS you stay not days, just an FYI.

Is that worth going to?BOMA is very good! A great chance to try things. I am very picky & found some very yummy things I never would have tried. I have heard the princess interaction at the Norway princess lunch, but have never personally been. I have also heard (on these boards) that the character interaction at Tusker house is good, but again, have not been myself. (no princesses either)

Sunshine Seasons in The Land Pavilion is good - lots of choices! Also, Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland at the MK ...

I know the kids TS Credits are separate - not sure about the CS credits ...

Boma! Boma! Boma! (my DW's favorite!!) Cinderella's Castle is "magical" - and although we didn't eat at Akershus (Norway) with the princesses, the grandparents took our DD there for breakfast and said it was great! We did the Fantasmic! Dinner package at Mama Melroses - good eatin'! And don't forget - Boma! Boma! Boma! (and hang out at AKL before and after you eat ...) :woohoo:

Must for dinning, in EPCOT, the Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, Disney Studios, Hollywood Brown Derby, Magic Kingdom, for counter service, the Colombia House is nice change besides burgers, etc. nice salads, large ham & cheese sandwiches, soups, etc. and the upstairs dinning room is nice to get away from the crowds. The Liberty Tree Tavern is a character dinning, served family style. Kids and adults enjoy. At the Animal Kingdom, there is a counter service before you get to the safari ride, that has fresh fruit, salads, and other items, besides burgers, pizza, etc. If you never been to the Rain Forest Cafe, either at the Animal Kingdom or Downtown Disney, is great for the family.

Appetizer's are no longer included but desssert is still in there and the counter service has drink and dessert.

Neither are we I have a soy allergy which knocks alot of that out anyways, but we also do not want to have burgers and fries and chicken strips for 10 days.

MK- Cosmic Rays, they do have burgers, but also ribs, rot. chicken, salads, and sandwiches, everybody could get something and be happy

Epcot- Sunshine Seasons Hands down, they have great selections that are healthy and good. Also amazing dessert choices. They have a bakery where they are made fresh. Also have an asian area to get something, great soup and sandwich area, also has an amazing chicken ceasar.

AK- was Tusker House and now looking like it is going to be Flame Tree

DHS is really yucky when it comes to not getting the burger and fries meal, but I would either go to Flatbread because they have a wrap that looks really good or Backlot, I like their salad they have there, it was really good when I had it, had to have them keep the soybeans off it though.

3.) Sorry can't help with this one we are all adults now in my family

Narcoossees is pretty upscale, i would save that one for something special. I would not go to Mama Melrose, I would try Tony's in MK for your italian, it is Lady and the Tramp themed, and you can watch the parade on the patio. Boma is really good, and you can watch the safari from the windows at the AKL. Zebra domes, they are amazing, but can be hard if your kids are picky eaters, kind of out there food. 1900 Park Fare hands down, the food is pretty good, and great interaction for kids

sorry so long, but we had such a great experience with our last trip with the dining plan, I am hoping for another streak of luck.
