Need digital camera advice

Not sure where to post this but I need some advice about digital cameras. My 9 year old wants a camera for her birthday. Instead of buying her an inexpensive 35mm I thought a digital might be better (no film or developing costs for my budding photographer). I currently have a Sony 5 mega pixel which I love but of course do not want to spend this on a 9 year old. I looked into the 3 mega pixels but the Sony's were still pretty high. Anyone have any experience with a more inexpensive digital that they are happy with.

My kids have no idea we will be going back to WDW this Sept. I know she will get alot of use from the camera. Last year I bought each of them disposables but this also can add up.

I've been very happy with my Fuji, and it's an older 2.1 without the optical zoom.
They have some new 3.2's with the optical zooms for $170 or less if they are on sale. I saw these at Circuit City.

We have a Samsung 2.0 and are extremely happy with it. We bought ours at Wal Mart for $120. Without a memory card on the lowest settings it takes 150 pictures. You put a memory card in it and you have lots of space for tons of pictures. It takes very good pictures and is easy to use. HTH
