Ok, this may be hard to explain, but I'll try...sorry, but I don't have a picture to explain better at the moment.

Our living room/sitting room is not a large room but it has a vaulted ceiling. If you stand in the foyer, to the left is the windows, to the right is our stairs, and straight ahead is a plain wall (which is what I need help with). The wall gets vaulted up to almost the 2nd story going from left to right, and continues over the stairs. We bought a rectangular pictures (about 33" by 24") and its too small to have just that on the wall.

My question is, should I have 3 or 4 pictures, and how would I arrange them, or put something else up? With the wall slanting upward, I'm not sure what to do to make it look best. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am SOOOO not good at this stuff, but wanted to let you know that I am sure that someone on the DIS will be able to help :)

I love to decorate so I'd thought I'd give it a shot. What is your style (traditional, contemporary, eclectic, etc.)? If I knew this, I would be able to help better. ;)

I have a wall like that, here's a picture of it now. They are lithographs from the Disney store. I may do some smaller arrangements on some of the other walls but haven't decided yet.

Our decorating is pretty modern...the picture we bought for the wall is a monet print with a silver frame, if that helps. Thanks!

I like to put shelf sconces on either side of the picture. On the shelves you could put plants that hang down, such as ivy. If the wall is too wide and that doesn't look like enough, put a grouping of pictures on the wall, all with matching frames for cohesiveness.

If you had a picture, I could probably be of more help :D

The shelf sconce idea sounds good. You might want to put something above the picture to add height. You can add a green plant or some kind of metal or ceramic hanging artwork. You can find them at any decorating store, like Kirklands. (If you have one in your area). I like traditional and gothic so over one of my pics I have a sword. It looks really cool.

Decorating those tall walls is so hard! I finally settled on shelves for mine. Right now I have two shorter shelves, set like stairsteps. When I redecorate I think I might do a regular ceiling height plant shelf all along the wall, sort of bringing the height down - I figure I can do normal pictures underneath then.
