need cheap roaming plan for iphone.

was all set to purchase straight talks unlimited phone plan for my iphone. BUT just found out it does NOT roam. sheesh. great plan , but not if you can't use it more than 10 miles from my house!
.......I just want a phone I can use traveling, use apps & such.

any cheap ideas?

The StraightTalk network is actually a mix of AT&T, TMobile, Verizon and Sprint. They don't have their own hardware so they pay other networks to use theirs. However, the network you use is mostly based on your phone. If the phone you are using has a preference for Verizon towers and there aren't any around you, it won't try to switch to one of the others ones. So you need to figure out what your phone prefers and then check that nework's coverage where you plan to travel. Not very convenient. I've also heard a major complaint about getting in contact with their customer service.

The NET10 and Straight Talk iPhone 4, 4s and 5 and BlackBerry Curve use the Verizon network.

The NET10 and Straight Talk iPhone 5c and 5s use the AT&T network.

I have an iphone 4s. on verizon.

but the people at straight talk tell me you set your zipcode, & it won't work out of that. out of state is what i need, something to roam.

didnt know straight talk does that. you dont have much option since is a 4s on verizon. you can either go with verizon prepaid or pageplus which is an MVNO that uses verizon towers. I think both will solve your roaming problem, but may cost more than straight talk. ($55? for page plus, $60? for verizon if i recall correctly) for unlimited talk txt, 2gb of data.
