pirate: This October 2005 will be our second trip to Orlando/Disney with our 4 year old son. He has such a good time last year, he can't wait to get back! Me too!!! Last year we setup two character dinings. We had breakfast at Donald's Breakfastasaurus, and dinner at the LTT. This year we are planning to try Crystal Palace for breakfast, and looking for other suggestion for a dinner. We were thinking about trying Chef Mickey's. The problem is that my wife, not my son, is a very picky eater. She really dosen't do well at buffets. I read that Chrystal Palace had a cook to order egg station. That should work fine. She really didn't care for LTT, although I thought the food was really good. I am looking for any other sit down type of food service, and/or any other suggestions for a good character dining. I'm also trying to plan it on her birthday. Do they off birthday cakes for purchase? Thanks for the help!

if garden grill in epcot has re-opened by october, that might be a good choice; it is served family style. cinderella's dinner at 1900 Park Faire at the GF is a buffet, but the selections are good. http://www.allearsnet.com/din/cbchar.htm here is a link to where the characters dine. have a look, it might be of help. good luck! :earboy2:

I think they are starting character dining at CRT in June but it might be just for lunch.

allearsnet has a lit of character dining that might help you out if you haven't seen it

I was also going to suggest Garden Grill if it is open when you go. Great character interaction and pretty good food served family style.

1900 Park Fare would be my best suggestion since all others I have been to are buffet. At 1900 Park Fare they have a pasta bar that is made to order like the omlete station at Crystal Palace so maybe that would satisfy your wife.

Grand Floridian also has a bakery that you could order a birthday cake from or you could order her the Slipper dessert which is white chocolate in the shape of Cinderella's slipper. It is filled with something but I'm not sure since I have only seen pictures of this.

::MickeyMo Chef Mickey is really nice. The food is good but the characters are even better. Your son would have a blast at this character breakfast. We went to this in October with our DD(3) and she LOVED it. The introduction song starts to play, everyone begins twirling their napkins in the air and you wait for the character, especially Mickey, to make their entrance. We are going back in May and have a reservation here again. I would highly recommend this. :wave2:

Another vote for Garden Grill if it is open then. So many of the character meals are buffets that it might be hard to find one your DW will enjoy. Does she not like the idea of food served buffet style or is she just picky about what she eats? I ask this because most of the buffets have a fairly wide range of selections and she would probably be able to find something she likes to eat.

pirate: Thanks for the replies. My DW is picky about the food she eats. She likes a lot of plain food like roasted chicked, baked ham, and plain pasta with sauce. It sounds like the Garden Grill may be our best bet. From the character schedule, Mickey will be at the Garden Grill. This is a must for my son. It looks like they will be opened for lunch starting in June. Does anyone know if they will be opened for dinner by October?

I know this isn't a meal you're currently considering, but I just thought I'd let you know in case plans change. I am a very picky eater and like "plain" things like your wife. We did Crystal Palace for lunch and I was very disappointed. All the dishes were too fancy or complicated for me. I ended up eating cold cuts and cheese for $20!

pirate: Wow. I thought my wife was the only picky eater....LOL. Thanks for the info. I'll make it a point not to visit Crystal Palace for lunch. We do plan on going to the Crystal Palace for breakfast. My wife really enjoys breakfast. It looks like the Garden Grill in Epcot may be our best bet for a sit down character dinner. I just hope they'll be opened by October. The latest info I read was that they are suppose to be opened by July.
