Need budget non-disney vacation ideas

Lots of coincidences for me in this thread! I came here looking for non-Disney budget vacation ideas for spring break! And OP, we just moved from Olathe!! We now live in Branson, and while it is wonderful here, I'm looking to get away from home for a week. I was actually looking into Destin FL or Colorado Springs as other posters mentioned!! Very very weird. I'm still undecided but will continue to check this thread for ideas. Branson is great though. 4 hour drive from OPKS, Silver Dollar City is a lot of fun, Lamberts (although I haven't been in years) is a fantastic place to eat. There really is a lot to do in Branson. Even if you don't do it for this trip, maybe you can come for a long weekend. Stay safe in that snow up there!

I am looking into budget friendly as well. I have been tossing around the idea of camping. My niece lives in SLC and there are tons of great places to visit and see. We planning on camping a few nights outside of Yellowstone. Boys the ages of your sons may enjoy camping as well...summer is hot out west, but more affordable than ski season.

I wanted to give you this link to cabins in the Branson area. Our DS21 just rented one this past Fall and they are close to Dogwood Canyon. They look beautiful and he said that they were.

I had no idea we had multiple Kansas City people on the Dis. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Looks like I'm going to have a hard time picking. You all have great suggestions!
Ms Andrea, don't miss Olathe too much. It is currently -8 degrees with the wind chill this morning. The kids are enjoying their second snow day in a row.

That's what I heard. We did get some snow here but not as much as you guys. It is super cold though.

Make sure you come back and let us all know what you've decided! I think we are leaning towards Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama.
