My dd15 will be going on a class trip for the long weekend in May, to Washington DC. I would love to ship a box down to the hotel, or have a box delivered somehow to her at the hotel. Her birthday is 2 days before they leave.

I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to get a box delivered to a hotel in the Maryland area (I'll get the specific hotel soon). I also need ideas on what to put in the box for her and her friends. I was thinking of some Monster like drinks, candy..bubbles? Just something budget friendly, but fun

Thanks

As for shipping, if you have an account with UPS or FedEx at work & a system for sending personal packages, go that route. You'll want something with a tracking # to make sure it gets there.

Drawing a blank on gift suggestions, but I took a similar class trip to DC when I was a bit older than your daughter & it was a terrific experience!!!!!

Snacks such as lunch size packages of chips or pretzels. Box of Little Debbies brownies so she can share.

Do you have snacks that are unique to your area? Maybe something she'd miss while out of town, or something she could share with students from other areas (assuming her group is meeting up with a larger group)?

Here is another idea. http://www.thepopcornfactory.com

I sent a package to our room at SSR for our first trip as DVC members. It was nice to have a variety of snacks in our room. Plus you won't have to worry about taking a box some where to ship. You can ship it directly to her.
My Sister went to Nashville for her birthday and I sent one to her hotel for her. She loved it. After a long day of touring she was able to sit back and relax with a snack.
you can do a search for a promo code and get $5 off.

My DD14 did the D.C. trip last spring with her school. If it's anything like her trip, they will be VERY busy, the chaperones will have their hands FULL, and there will be little assistance in getting her the package, since they will rarely be in their rooms. Nor would you want her to open her hotel door to any delevery person.

My suggestion is to just pack stuff in her bag. I know they must be limited for space, but do what you can. My DD was so exhausted, she didn't even need that many snacks. They get starved while they eat out, and then they come back to the hotel and crash.

I was able to cram in a 6 pack of water, a box of Oreos, packs of gum, and a box of pop-tarts! All that stuff just fit into the corners after her clothes were packed :)

I second the busy notion! That said, the delivery will not come to the room. It will be delivered to the front desk & kept there for her to pick up. You would mark the package kind of like this:

Holiday Inn
Guest: Jane Doe arriving 0/01/2012
100 Main Street
Washington, DC 11111
