Need book/author suggestions for DH

one of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy authors: harry turtledove.

Perfect books if he likes Michael Crichton: Any books by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston. The Relic, Thunderhead, Cabinet of Curiosities. They are sort of the same style as Crichton. I love them and passed them on to DH and my dad (who was a notoriously picky reader). They both loved them.

Lincoln Child also wrote two great books called Utopia (theme park gone terribly wrong--I read it before a WDW trip and was a little creeped out!) and Death Match.

Try Spider Robinson's "Callahan's" series...
But have him stop after the third book ("Calahans Place"). The series definitely goes downhill from there.

I also suggest Santiago by Mike Resnik, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and the Princess Bride by William Goldman

Oh, and how could I forget "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, as well as the rest of the books in this series. The Guide is perhaps one of the funniest books ever written.

If he likes Indiana Jones type stuff, Clive Cussler would also be good.

Two more:
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and The Past Through Tomorrow, both by Robert Heinlein

Oh, I dunno...I really liked the books in "Mary's Place", and the first book where they move to Key West (Callahan's Key) was awesome. But whatever you do, do NOT read the "alleged" latest book (Suposedly called Callahan's Con)...I say "supposedly" because that book never happened...You hear me...It DID. NOT. HAPPEN. :)

WOW! Thanks for all of the suggestions. I am going to write them down so I can go to the book store and pick some out for DH. :)

John Grisham.

My DH doesn't read that much, and he is just starting to read after 13 years of marriage.

His brother recommend John Grisham to him, and he hasn't started yet, but at least checked out the book at the library.

My DH also checked out three biographies. One was Steve Jobs, and I don't remember the other two.

Jonathan Kellerman books are pretty good as well.

They center around a Dr. Alex Delaware, and his cop friend Milo.
I've read all but one of them (theres a good portion of them out, maybe 20?)

Jonathan Kellerman must have stopped the series this year, because his new book The Conspiracy Club, had new characters in it. The Conspiracy Club was pretty good actually.

Did you see the movie October Sky about Homer Hickam building rockets as a young boy in a WV coalmining town and eventually working for NASA? His autobio series of books about his boyhood days are good -
October Sky or originally known as Rocket Boys
The Coalwood Way
Sky of Stone

He has a website if you google him.

My absolute favorite book is The Winner by David Baldacci....kept interested all the way through, James Patterson is also a very good writer (Kiss the Girls)
