This is our 1st time going just us - no kids, no grandkids, no friends & no pets:maleficen:maleficen:maleficen

We were coming down for a hockey trips - Bruins V Tampa so the DH surprised me with 4 days in WDW:hmghost::hmghost::hmghost:
He is so not a Disney person so am backing off the sun up to sundown commando touring:stitch2::stitch2:

Trying to surprise him with a nice leisurely romantic dinner but :confused3:confused3 I have ADR at Cinderella's table but the more I think of it, may not be that quiet or romantic. He is very much a meat & potatos kind of guy. He likes some seafood & pastas.

I just have no experience with the romance of Disney. Would love any & all suggestions:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

If you're open for signature (and you're willing to pay for CRT), consider California Grill, Narcoossee's or Artist Point. Jiko is wonderful but may not be a fit for a meat-potatoes guy. Yachtsman Steakhouse or the Boathouse may be good matches for him as well.

(I'd go with Artist Point, it's an underrated treasure.)

Thanks, the choices are overwhelming. Gees it's easier with kids in tow just head for the nearest character anything!:rotfl:

I'd second Narcoossee's. Not that it is really quiet, but you can take the ferry from MK to GF which is relaxing, and the boat dock is right next to the restaurant. The food is wonderful, and he will find something on the menu that he would like for sure! (Off topic - I also hope the B's fix their defense before your game :scared:).

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary at Yachtsman Steakhouse and it was awesome! It was quiet (well as quiet as it can be at WDW, much quieter than most restaurants) and romantic and they spoiled us! We had an amazing waiter who explained everything to us and made suggestions based on our conversation with him and they surprised us with a very special dessert at the end of our meal. It really was one of the best dinners we've had at WDW!

Yeah, I'm guessing romantic and princess meet and greets probably won't be your husband's style ; ) You generally can't go wrong with any of the signatures, but based on the meet and potatoes comment I'd suggest looking at Yacthsman Steakhouse, Artist Point, or California Grill and see which menu appeals to you the most.

Another vote for Yacthman's if DH is a meat & potato person. We have had excellent food and service on our visits. They have multiple beef choices and they let you switch the side that comes with your entree for another ( filet comes with mashed potatoes which I don't like so I get the potato gratin which comes with the strip). Take a look as the various menus online for the signature restaurants. I use the ones on this site ( www.wdwinfo.com) and www.allears.net. Both are usually more complete than the Disney site.

My pick would be Artist Point. WL is the perfect resort for date night, the restaurant is quiet and out of the way, and I think the menu is very well suited to a "meat and potatoes" guy.

Congrats on 30 years!! If we make 30 I'll be 78:rotfl2::rotfl2: Although with this DH that time should fly, 2nd time a charm.

I am gonna be doing lots of research. His only prerequisite for dining was OH GOD NO CHEF MICKEYS!!!!

Thanks everyone, if you think of anymore JLMK. Going to cancel Cindy's RT.:thumbsup2

Just went in September and it was our 25th anniversary. Had dinner at Trattoria al Forno at the Boardwalk. Not only was it romantic, but they treated us like royalty. Came over with special desserts and champagne toast. Very special!

Whichever restaurant you choose (and I vote for Yachtsman, Artist Point, Narcoossee's and California Grill, in that order), be sure to note on your reservation that you're celebrating your anniversary (remember, you're allowed to celebrate whenever you wish, it doesn't have to be the exact date). That might help them assign y'all to a romantic corner of the dining area. Yachtsman's steak is wonderful, but we were seated near a busy pathway....

Agree to have them make a note that you're celebrating your anniversary. Most restaurants will make it at least a little special (table decoration or small, free dessert). Any Signature is a fairly good bet, but the quietest and most romantic (outside Victoria and Albert's which is a league and price unto itself) is Artist Point. They have buffalo, steak, and pork, so a meat and potatoes person will be at home. I suggest making an early ADR and then ask for a window seat. It's worth any wait you might have. WL is one of the quietest, most serene resorts at Disney and AP follows suit. The service is usually excellent, the food good, and the wine list excellent (fair number of beers, too).

Absolutely agree with Trattoria Al Forno!! We were there (30th anniversary trip) on Mother's Day and they were amazing! I was spoiled there, lots of roses/carnations and a free glass of wine. Our waiter was awesome too, it was a very magical time!

The big plus on Artist Point is it takes just a little extra effort to get there (but, seriously: It's not a lot. It's a boat!). So you don't get nearly as many people dragging tired, cranky kids as you do at Narcoossee's or Cali Grill.

I suppose I should shut up about AP or else the secret will get out.

How difficult would it be from the BCV with an ECV?

Good advice on the remarks, this is actually dead center between anniversary & his birthday:dancer:

We do have a car so getting around is no problem.Since it's just us we figured just be able to relax & not have to wait for buses.

Def not V&A, did that before nice but way too formal for him. I know he would like the food but the point is to chill, have a few drinks & set a little mood:angel::angel:

I do love the Boardwalk area, we usually try to stay there but this year doing a cruise a couple months after so I splurged on a suite for his actual birthday. This time did a moderate hotel. But a nice stroll after dinner on the Boardwalk - not a bad idea. :thumbsup2

I'll add another vote for Artist Point. We ate there and Narcoose's for our anniversary this year. Both were nice- and we really enjoyed the seafood at Narcoose's. I would give the atmosphere edge to AP, though. It was quieter, and we felt as if we were a little "more important" there. The food was excellent, and the warm donut dessert was to die for!

We typically stay at BW, and have loved Trattoria in its last form as Kouzzina. We did eat both breakfast and dinner there this trip as well. While we did not really enjoy the meal at dinner as much as we thought we would, the breakfast was great. It is very similar to the breakfast we loved at Kouzzina, and we were definitely treated as special for our anniversary- we had a champagne toast with a light up Buzz and Tinkerbell on the glasses. It was so sweet! Don't know if you are breakfast people, or what else you are planning, but we usually try to make time for it once each trip.
