Need attendant/MOH advice

This isn't Disney related, but I hope it's okay that I ask it here since well.. I don't want to have to register at another bridal forum. :)

I am MOH in a wedding in August. Myself, the Bride and one of the Bridesmaids were all really close in high school. We went to separate colleges but stayed in touch and now we still have that bond left over from HS. About three years ago, the Bride (before she was engaged) decided that we should all have a turn at being MOH in each others wedding so she suggested I be her MOH instead of BM, who is her BFF.

Now that I am newly engaged myself and thinking about my bridal party, I am starting to feel like this is an insane idea. Bride and BM are and have been best friends since they were 6. They call each other all the time and the other is who they go to for advice. I don’t really have a lot in common with either any more so I only seem them once every month or two. The brides parents don’t even know who I am!

So, I am thinking of stepping down and asking the Bride if I can switch places with the BM. Obviously, she wanted me as her MOH for a reason but I don’t want her regret not having her best friend since childhood as her MOH down the road. I need advice on if that’s the right thing to do?

I will also admit, I am feeling anxiety over this MOH pact anyway. I think if I go through with it and have BM be my MOH it will be too stressful and might end our friendship.

Thanks in advance for the advice.. who knew this attendant thing would be so stressful?
