I'm new to this board, so I apologize for this probably being posted 100 times. DH and I just got the DVC video in the mail and watched it, and we're interested in joining, but until the video, I had no knowledge on this at all. Still don't really. So heres some questions...
1) If we were interested in Beach Club villas, are they just available, or is there a waiting list?
2) How many points would you get, how many nights is that, etc....is there a website that lists that?
3) Whats the annual fee?
4) What benefits do you get for being a DVC member?

Thats all I can think of now, but if anyone wants to post any general info or opinions that would be great too! Thanks.

If you want a contract at the Beach Club, you'll probably have to get the points via the resale market. In buying a resale, it will take several months of your time to find the right contract (particularly at BCV), negotiate the price, wait on DVC's ROFR and then close on the contract. Normally it's about a 60-day process from offer to closing, but given the demand for BCV, it could be several months on the front-end before you are even able to find a contract that meets your needs.

You will also have to finance the purchase yourself or pay cash for the points via resale.

You can buy as many points as you wish. Again, this will have a bearing the timelines; once you decide how many points you want, you need to wait for a resale contract to come along that fits your needs.

The materials DVC provided to you should have point charts for each resort. Plug your travel habits into those charts and see how many points you will need to take the trips you want to take. There is also a web-based point calculator linked at the top of this page.

Current and historical dues can be found here:

It is currently $4.27 per point for BCV.

There are some shopping, dining and recreation benefits afforded to DVC members. Right now the most noteworthy is a $100 discount off of an Annual Pass and $125 off of the Premium Annual Pass. That is the base discount for an adult, non-resident, non-renewal price. There is a sliding discount scale for renewals, Florida residents, children, etc.

We also get 10-20% off on spa services, 15% off on tours, 10% off at some restaurants (very limited list, and only certain meals).

If you search the forum, I'm sure you'll find a discount list that has been posted recently. Note that the discounts are NOT guaranteed as part of DVC ownership. DVC could eliminate or change the discounts tomorrow and we would have no recourse.

If you do want BCV and will have to go resale, then I think you would be interested in this thread:

The ROFR is explained and recent sales that have gone through or fallen back to Disney are listed. Disney bought back our first attempt to buy into DVC. If there had been a thread like this at the time we were trying, I think it would have helped us make a better offer.
