I've been to Disney before but a long time ago and am now travelling with my family (Daughter 12 and son 9) We will be in Orlando 11 Jan - 18 Jan and will obviously be visiting the parks.

What is the best way to get the best prices for accommodation? Is staying at a Disney hotel worth the money?

What are the PINS that people are mentioning about for free dining and where/when do you look for them?

Travelling for 7 weeks throughout the US I need all the help with costs that I can but still a good holiday for all :)

Hi there.

You can price out a stay at any of the Disney resorts on their website. January is a good time for discounts, so hopefully something would come out later this year for you.

I find staying on property is worth it because of all the perks - Magical Express, transportation, etc, but it's really an individual choice. It might help to price it out both ways (make sure you include parking if you plan on driving yourself if off-site, etc) and see what it comes out to.

PINS are individual codes sent out via email or snail mail. There's no rhyme or reason to who gets them, but it seems to help to sign up for everything Disney you can (free planning DVD, etc).

Good luck!

When deciding on site vs off site make two columns on a piece of paper and add up the following:

On-site Off-site
Airport transfers: Free Rental Car: Depends on your needs
Parking: Free Parking: $15 per day
In World transportation: Free Gas for 1 week: about $50
Room Cost: Room Cost:

Depending on your room needs and your rental car needs either option could price out to be cheaper. For my party of 6, it is cheaper to stay off-site at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek in a 2 bedroom condo for $73 a night, rent a car for $40 a night, pay parking & daily gas $21 for a total of $134 a night, then get a family suite on site at a value for $194 (or two rooms for $173).

Plus, for us, we like to grocery shop and have breakfast in the condo and bring our own favorite snacks to the park. Having a rental car is a big value to us.

Another thing to price out is the dining plan. For some it is a value, for others it is not.

Crunch the numbers and figure out what works best for your family :thumbsup2
