We willbe traveling the first week of December , is there any particular day of the week when it is cheaper to buy airfare, we were waiting to finalize and have not purchased airfare.

I usually use ITA to check prices. I'll click the month-long search, then type in airports and dates, and number of nights you want to stay. It shows you a calendar with the lowest rates for each day. I find that helpful because sometimes sales are limited to certain dates and I hate to keep putting the info in day by day to check.

You can't actually book the airfare from that site though. They do give you the necessary info to book, but you'll have to go to the airline's site to do the actual reservations. I don't mind that. HTH

I was told by American Airlines rep. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. But the catch is if you leave on one on those days you would also have to come back on those days for better pricing.
Hope this helps.

Once you narrow down the days through ITA, try "Sidestep.com" They list costs for not just airlines but also Orbitz. Going this route, I got a ticket for less than the airline was offering. I even called the airlines to try to get a match but they said they couldn't give me that price.

Hope that helps.
