Need advise from DVC veterans that know more than me!

I need advise from you DVC veterans that know more than me. DH & I have been members since 2005 with our home resort being SSR. Now our son and my sister are considering becoming members of the DVC family. I am wondering, would it be better to point them in the direction of resale or purchasing directly from Disney? Would it be better for all of us to have the same home resort? We are trying to have enough points between all of us to enjoy family vacations at WDW together. DH & I have shared our points with the family, but we don't always have enough to go around. We would eventually like to purchase more points ourselves but are unable to do so at this time. Do any of you have any thoughts, experience, or suggestions as to the best route to take? I know some of you are very knowledgeable when it comes to DVC matters.

Also, I know this has been discussed many times before so I apologize--but just what are the current DVC incentives out there now?

Ultimately, it is a personal choice; some considerations:

1. Right now there are numerous SSR resales at an offering price in the high $70s per point (click on DVC Resale Listings at top of this page). That definitely makes resale cheaper than buying new. AKV, the resort Disney is selling is $96 a point after the usual $8 off per point. They currently sell AKV points coming available in 2009 and fill in the gap with an equal number of SSR "developer points" good for a year. Note, the current promo ends in a week and unknown what will be next; some are speculating an announcement of Bay Lake Tower at Contemporary.

2. If the idea is to have everyone stay at the same resort in the future and have the comfort of assuring a reservation for exactly what you want when you want by use of the 11 month window, then you have two choices: (a) both own at the same resort; or (b) own at separate resorts and take turns annually making the reservations -- one owner banks each year while the other makes the ressie for both using regular and banked points at the resort he owns. Of course, that assumes everyone will usually agree to do the annual trip.
