My brother who has points that he borrowed to take a vacation and then had to cancel his trip.We are planning a trip to Aulani next February. He of course can not return these points to the original use year, he wanted to transfer them to me to use on our trip but I read that you can't transfer borrowed points. So the only way I can figure that we could use them is for him to book nights for us and then us book the other nights??? Would this work? And do you think we could get them linked together so we wouldn't have to change rooms? He just doesn't want to lose his points and let them go to waste and he insists he can't go on vacation before they expire.

As long as your February vacation is before his points expire, then you be fine. Yes you can do two separate reservations and have MS link them. You will both need to tell MS it is okay.

Do you have the same UY? If so you could transfer points to your brother and he could make the reservation and if you have the same UY even combine points for the same night. If you do not have the same UY, two separate reservations will have to be made anyway.

You can transfer the points from you to him even if you have a different use year. As long as the points are not banked nor borrowed, they can be transferred. They retain their original UY and home resort.

The advantage of this is that it could avoid point waste. For instance if it is 23 points a night and your brother has 25, he could only book 1 night and then have 2 points left over. But if you transfer, you could transfer 21 points to him and then book 2 nights (46 points) with no leftover points.

You will both need to contact MS and have "Travel with" notice placed on BOTH reservations of the other reservation number. That way the CM doing the planning/room assignments will know what is going on, do not put it on just one side as it might be missed.

I believe the proper term in this case is linking the two reservations. Because traveling with is when two reservations are made for the same dates for two parties. I.e. I have invited by brother and his family to join us so made reservations for the same dates for two villas. The OP is using two contracts to make two reservations for his family for dates that encompass two halves of a vacation.

what you want to do will work. Further, before you go to Alauni, be sure you understand what you are getting yourself into. A lot of people love it, but I will never go back. It all depends what you want. I have older kids and the fact that they only have a lagoon and no ocean with waves was a major negative. Pools are also for smaller kids. This is a high end kids / family resort. I also hated the fact that there was nothing in the surrounding towns and you were in the middle of no where and the towns in the area had low end restaurants and nothing nice. It is in a terrible part of the island. I never want to go back to that island or that resort again. Not worth the trouble and cost of getting there. IF you want to go to Hawaii, go to Maui or Kaui and if you want to go to disney property, then go to FL or CA.
