Need Advice!

We are leaving in a few days for WDW and one member of our party has developed severe foot pain (a 10 out of 10 on the pain scale). The catch is it seems to bother him when extending his legs or when sleeping (but walking is fine). He has had this issue before, so the only relief he can get is when he ices it - this is esp. important when he sleeps - icing allows him to sleep as it stops the pain.

Here is the issue, he only is willing to use ice packs (as they are flat and not-disruptive when sleeping, vs. a bag of ice) - he is now saying if he cannot freeze ice packs then he will not go...

My question - we are staying at the Contemporary - do the refrigerators have freezers or is there a way we will be able to freeze a couple ice packs? I have also read about medical fridges, I am unsure if they have freezers that actually freeze.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I figure I will seek advice here first.

Honestly I do not know the specific answer to your question but I would guess that they would find a freezer for you somewhere that he could use. My dad is diabetic and travels a lot. He uses an insulin carrier that has to be frozen solid in a freezer - since most hotel fridges are not really designed for this he often asks the concierge to find a freezer for him and they almost always do - he freezes it at night and picks it up in the morning. I would be surprised if Disney couldn't do the same. Hope your friend can come and isn't in too much pain.

If you cannot get a freezer you might try an ice water circulator. We use them frequently after surgeries (physical therapy). I believe one brand is polar soft. Probably would be expensive to buy but you may be able to rent one from a health care supply store. It has a cooler like box and a tube that connects to a "wrap" that you put around painful area and it circulates ice water. Just an idea.

The refrigerators in the hotel rooms do not normally have freezers.

To follow-up -

we stayed at the contemporary and turned the fridge temp to the max (i.e. the coldest setting) - the freezer DID freeze ice packs, and our milk and waters remained cold and did not freeze.
