My dh and I are taking our first trip to Disneyland this Thursday:goodvibes. Our flight arrives at 1:30pm, Orange County airport, we are using Disney express to Tropicana.
My plan is to do WOC picnic, there is only one show that night at 8:15. Im wondering how early should I be in line for a good viewing spot? I have read a bunch of WOC threads but can only find advice about lining up to get the fastpass. This might be my only opportunity to see it and it's VERY important to me. Any advice about when to line up for the show and where is greatly appreciated.

Once you pick up your picnics, the WOC FP's will be with your meals. The ticket will say to line up between 60-30 minutes prior to the show, so for an 8:15 show, it will be between 7:15 and 7:45 (I think). If getting a good spot is your primary concern, then obviously the sooner you line up, the better. The FP will also tell you where to line up, as each color section has a different staging area. Once they let you into the actual area, make sure you head toward a railing. What that does is reduce the chance of anyone standing directly in front of you.

My best advice is to hang around the lighthouse around 7pm. They are going to clear the area behind all the sections. You will see people in that area, but they will be push out. There will be many CMs around, reassuring people they don't have to hang around and that there is plenty of standing area in their section. Stand your ground and get as close to the rope when they close off the section. I think it's at 7:30 when they let people through. Have your FP ready and head to the closest CM to check it and dash to your section.

Look at one of the section charts here before your date. It even helps to walk over their and get a visual on the location of your section. I know I counted lightposts to our section durng the day. This helped direct me in the crowd as we tried to get to our section.

It also helps to know what level you want beforehand so you can go directly there. I know there were many people who stopped to look around and missed out on some good spots when people passed them by.

what sonny jane said. it says on the ticket when you need to line up! :)

Thanks for the great advice :thumbsup2. I'm a WDW vet so I'm used to staking out good spots hours before lol. It's nice to have a visual and I will definitely check out the area when we first get there. Getting the dh to wait for so long without riding anything will be the tough part. He thinks I'm too aggressive when getting our " prime spot" lol.
