Hi Everyone

I am hoping I can get some advice. I will be travelling to WDW in September, and our group will include a 39 year old woman with Downs Syndrome and a 50 year old woman with 1 bad knee and one newly replaced knee. Neither one of them can stand in line for long periods of time. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking that a GAC might be the way to go, but I am not sure if it is appropriate. Any suggestions or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. If you wish to email me, I can be found at VanBrujah@aol.com.
Thanks!

Actually, for your friend with the knee problems standing in line might not be the most difficult part of the day. Rather, the walking from attraction to attraction is often a long trek. I would advise her to think about an ECV. The GAC would be a help if your friend with Downs has trouble waiting lines or, even if she is mobile she might have difficulty with stairs. When you request a GAC at guest relations you should be prepared to tell them exactly what accommodation your friends need. Like unable to tolerate standing in close quarters, can not be in the sun, unable to climb stairs etc. If you decide on the GACs then I would get two. One for each in case they want to do different attractions.
Have a great trip.

Welcome to disABILITIES.
I agree with Nanajo. You friends will probably find that the waiting in line part is not as much of a problem as the walking between places is. For example, the distance around the WS lagoon at Epcot is over a mile and you can easily walk 3-5 miles a day.
If this September is anything like when DD, DH and I went a few years ago in September, you will find very short waits for anything. kids are back in school and most families are not going to take them out for vacation at the beginning of the school year, so attendance is way down. When we went, many of the attractions had no lines at all. Hope you find the same.
