We are going to WDW in late October. I have reserved a 2 bedroom villa at OKW. We have asked my DH's brother, his girlfriend and her two DD to join us. They will be using the bedroom with the 2 queen beds. My question is: Would it be a good idea for me to request a lock out room for them or would that be rude of me. I want to have some privacy but I don't want to shut them out completely.
Any advice would be helpful.

You can leave the adjoining door open if you wish and close it whenever. Some folks don't even use the other entry. The lockout will give them their own entry so they can come/go without bothering you and vice versa. They will also have the small kitchenette setup. So if you want to have a little bit of "space" a lockoff is a good idea.

If nobody is sleeping in the living room, I don't think it makes a difference. I can't really see them staying in their studio with the two kids all the time you are in the room. You can't really lock them out either, their room key will open both outside doors.

Also, are you going to ask them to stay out of YOUR kitchen? Force them to use their own little kitchenette, yeah, that's the ticket.

The only time I think it would be beneficial is if people are sleeping in the living room. This was the studio people can come and go as they please.

Rich is right. When we have had a lock off, our guests still use the kitchen and living room, and have never used their own entrance.

Sorry, I should have said my 5 year old will be sleeping in the living room.

THen you would get the benefit of the studio dwellers being able to come and go without disturbing the living room.

But, its still no big deal. A five year old after a day in the parks is probably going to sleep pretty soundly. Also, OKW two bedroom is so large that even if they do use the front door, make a snack in the kitchen and eat on the counter or dining table, you are not going to have a problem.

I think it is a non-issue and your guests would probably prefer the extra storage space they get in a regular two bedroom without a kitchenette.

I think you'll be okay with either set-up but I would go for the lock-off. It gives them their own "space" and they might find the door useful early in the morning or late at night.

I would try to get one of the units with a seperate entrance to the master bath. Also, not essential, but it would help ensure privacy.

With a studio if they are coffee drinkers they can make their coffee in the morning without going into the "big kitchen."

We recently had a 2 bedroom lock off at Vero and at OKW.
It wouldn't have mattered either way but parents did like having their own coffee maker and fridge.

I want to thank everyone from all your good advice. I think that I'll leave it up to the folks at OKW and see what the luck of the draw brings.
Extra storage space would be good.
Thanks again,
Ginger
