hello Disers!

My my DFi and myself are thinking of a disney wedding. we will be at wdw the week of june 21st. we are thinking of stopping by the WP for some info. do you guys have any helpful advice?

thank you soo much! :lovestruc

I would call DFTW or start browsing this board for info. I don't think there are people at the wedding pavilion handing out brochures or anything, so I don't know how much info you will get by going there. I would call and ask them to send you some stuff.

You need to go to Francs not the WP and you need an appointment.

Definitely call in before. Francs is really only used for planning sessions, and the planners don't have their offices there, so going in un-announced won't get you any further than the secretary!

I would definitely call the disneywedding hotline and scope out the website. When are you thinking of getting married? If it's a long time out, you may just be able to spy around. Some brides to be said they went to the WP and someone let them inside when they said they wanted a disney wedding, but if it's someone's ceremony, it's a good idea to just back away. But I'd definitely call to get some info.

I would suggest calling DFTW and make an appointment. State you will be at Disney (your dates) and want to have a site visit because you want to get married at Disney. You should have a time frame in your mind of when you want to get married at Disney. I hope that helps. :thumbsup2

My DH and I did that right after we got engaged. I called a few weeks before we went down and I asked them if we could set up an appointment to speak to someone about potentially having a disney wedding.
We met with someone (who later became our coordinator) and he basically gave us an overview of various locations, disney floral, disney photography etc.
We also discussed budgets!!
It was a very helpful meeting!

thank you all. so as an updated i have called DFTW and now i am just waiting for a Consultant to call me back. to be honest i am more exctied than i thought i would be. :cutie:

but now for my next question: i know that you ladies have either had or are about ready to have your weddings. Is there anything that you would have done or wished you would have done when meeting/talking to them? l want to be well prepared when i talk to them.

thank you once again! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what questions I would ask but I am going to be down there the same time for my SOG wedding and I am super excited!:banana:

What I did want to say is I wouldn't worry too much about the questions that you forget to ask because that is why you have the DISboards! I swear I don't know what I would have done without all of the help on here!

Happy Planning and have a great trip! Maybe I will see ya while you are down there!

Congratulations!!! thank you for the advice! i guess what i need is reassurance. and you gave me that. thank you.

maybe we will see each other there!! only two more weeks are you excited?!

Well I think you might have specific questions as you start making the big decisions-

Escape or Wishes?
Location?
Dessert Party?
Reception Site?
Centerpieces/Decorations?

I would say the biggest questions most brides have, fall into one of the above categories, (also there are many places here on the boards to find those answers)! YAY!

I wouldn't stress yourself out about thinking of every question you have between now and the wedding, because if you do choose DFTW, you'll be able to email/call back and forth and also set up a planning session if you choose.

I would simply write down all the questions you have now (because you'll forget while you're there if you don't). Ask about all of the potential venues for your size/type. We selected one place for our reception when we were there for the site visit, but later outgrew it, and had to go off our vacation memories to select the other. So, I would take lots of pictures of all these places. It will help you make a decision when you're off you're Disney-high and sitting back at home. You could find pictures online (or from your planner like we did) but this way, you'll have the visual memory and any notes you took.

thank you. yes those seem to the biggest questions that my DFI and myself face. but your right, the disboards are extremely helpful. I have gotten soo many ideas and new places to look at that i didnt even think of. Not to mention all the helpful folks on here willing to give tips, stories, and advice.

Thank you! i'll be sure to take my camera and a notepad with me. and i love your jan wedding date btw, its my son's birthday! :cutie:

The one thing I wish we'd done for our first appointment/site visit was take pictures! We didn't even think about bringing a camera with us, but it's the one part of the planning process we didn't have photos of. And it would have helped us as we made decisions later on.
