we bought the poly in 2016-with 100 points which is usually a few points short for our weeks stay so weve been borrowing the 10 points but eventually well be out of points

so my thoughts are to buy a small contract at a different resort so we have a little flexability where to stay--in Jan we wanted to

stay the BCV but they were gone by the time the 7 month window opened for us--

so my questions are how do I go about trying to find a small contract--could I even buy 25 points thinking of either BLT or BCV

so say for 2021 we wanted to stay BCV could I use my small contract for that and then borrow from our 100 point poly contract
and book BCV at the 11 month

would use years matter our poly has a UY of aug

also Ive been seeing alot of posts about walking a ressie--is this only helpful for 11 month or does it help if you want to switch at the 7 month

also Im very confused on how waitlist actually works--if you waitlist do your points get tied up at that point or only if the waitlist comes through

so if a few of the days I wanted at the BCV were available should I have put in for a waitlist--also Ive seen where you can cancel the waitlist either 7 or 30 days before--wouldnt the longer you let it run the more of a chance you have getting it--or if you cancel 30 days then the points dont go into holding

sorry for all the questions but as time is going on with our DVC it seems more questions are coming up

thanks all

You cannot use your Poly points at BCV until the 7 month mark. At 11 months and before 7 months, your points can only be used at their home resort.

The points for a waitlist are used when the waitlist matches. When you make the waitlist, you will be asked if they should borrow if the waitlist matches, and you are also asked which home resort they should borrow from.

thanks for the great advice--so my best bet would have been to book the days I could at the BCV and waitlist the rest--

just another question though if I book what I could have gotten at the BCV at 7 months that would have taken from my points what happens to the points that I would have used to book what was available if the waitlist doent come through

I just dont want points to go to holding--

Set your waitlist up to expire at 31 days. If it doesn't come thru by then, you can cancel your existing reservation and those points would go back into your account without any penalty. But you must cancel by Day #31 prior to the first night of the reservation. If your waitlist is for nights at the end of your stay, you would have to cancel the existing reservation AND the waitlist at Day #31.

Keep in mind if you don't have enough points to hold the Poly reservation while waiting for BCV to match you would risk not having a reservation for your trip.

Also keep in mind that if you are thinking of buying resale, small BCV contracts might not be easy to find.
