Hi I am looking to travel April 2019 (during Easter) and need advice. I am looking at preferred room at Pop vs. Little Mermaid room at AofA. I LOVE the theming at AofA, but I am concerned about distance and room comfort. My main concern is the distance of the Little Mermaid rooms from transportation and dining. I'm mostly concerned about my kids at the end of the night and having to walk from transportation to the room when they may be tired and grumpy. How far is the actual walk? My kids will be 9 and 7, so I don't think we will be using a stroller. Another concern is the room size and double beds. I can probably deal with double beds if the other experiences will be great. Anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated!

Go with Pop. There is no downside.

You'll have a renovated room with two Queen beds, coffeemaker, and you'll be close to transportation and the main building. You can cross the bridge, visit AofA, eat there, take the buses, and go to the LM section and see for yourself how far those rooms are to the main building.

I agree with DisneyLover99, you will get renovated rooms that will offer more than AofA and if you do preferred at POP you will keep walking to a minimum from bus to room and with kids, that's a plus! Also, it's so close to AofA if you want to tour the resort you can walk over there and check out the theming. I haven't stayed at POP in about 3 years but it's our favorite value.

I would go with pop unless yall are super excited about the pool at AoA. You're right about the distance after a long day at the parks. It's almost unbearable by the time you get back to the rooms and it was honestly something my husband remembers MOST about our trip. I don't want that to be his memory of Disney! Every single night he swore he'd pay for a preferred room from now on.... and we are super duper frugal so you know it's a big deal for him to say that. Compare that to a preferred room we had at pop *upgraded for free* and it was SO different. Seems trivial, but it's not. At all.

The new Pop rooms are really nice. The second bed folds up into the wall so you have extra space, and the bathrooms have much more solid sliding doors now. When I stayed last winter, I wound up with a 90s room - technically "far away" if you walk inside the resort, but a rather short walk if you use the sidewalks near the parking lots.

Pop. NO question. I'm a runner and I stayed in LM rooms and let me tell you, it was a HIKE. I'm an adventurous eater yet I found the AoA food court abysmal and crowded and loud. All. The. Time. YMMV...

I'll be the odd man out but having stayed at both....aoa without a doubt. We did not like pop at all! The whole time we were there we wished we could change to art of animation. We stayed in a little mermaid room with a toddler. We did not mind the walk one bit. Made the trip several times a day just for refills. We would stay again at aoa, but not pop. Liked the pool better, room better, food court better.

I like both POP and AoA - even the LM rooms. However, as you are already indicating a concern about the distance to LM rooms, I do believe that you may be happier at a preferred room in POP. That way you can still be close to AoA and enjoy the decor, but you are not far from your bus stop and food court.

It IS a fairly long walk to the LM rooms. I never timed it but I would guess longer than 5 minutes, perhaps somewhere between 5 -10 minutes depending upon how quickly you are walking.

Good luck choosing your resort.
