Last year we stayed concierge at the Polynesian for the 1st time. We had a 1st floor GV in Hawaii which was very nice but it was at the opposite end of the building from the lounge. Even though I knew not to expect it, I couldn't help hoping for an upgrade to LV since it was our 20th anniversary trip. I was a little disappointed when the pixie dust didn't fall our way.

To my wonderful surprise we are planning a very unexpected trip in September thanks to the 7 for 4 DV package. We have decided to stay concierge at the Polynesian but this is where our agreement ends. I would like to stay LV and DH thinks GV is just fine. The difference in cost is $356 for the week. What would you do? (I told DH that I could make up the difference by doing a garage sale or selling more things on e-bay).

If we should decide to stay LV, we are thinking of the 3rd floor this time. We would like a non smoking room with a great view - any suggestions?

If you can stay LV I would try to. The view is wonderful. But if you can't GV is great also, it is still in the most convinent building on site, easy access to everything.

I would look on Tikimans site for the rm numbers, I think it is 3025 or 35 that we stayed in that had a perfect view of the MK.
it was on the lounge end of the longhouse abt 4 doors down from elevator.
Good luck with your selling etc. hope you have a great time in sept.:wave2:

I am going in Dec 2004 for my 25th wedding anniversary. Yes, it is expensive, but I am also going for the Poly LVC. I thought about hoping for an upgrade if I booked Garden View Concierge, but I was too afraid the pixie dust would miss me too! My husband does not know we are doing concierge or Lagoon view. Boy will he be suprised!

Have fun when you go.

Hi There

Sorry to ask a daft question but what is the difference between Garden View Concierge and Lake View Concierge ?? I didn't realise there were two levels at the Polly

Thanks

It's not a daft question! The concierge service at the Polynesian is the same for all guests in the Hawaii and Tonga buildings. In the Hawaii building, the difference is in the room view. Lagoon view rooms face the Seven Seas Lagoon and have a marvelous view of the beach, water, Cindy's castle, etc (hence the higher price). The garden view overlook the pathways and landscaped areas near the quiet pool amd are thus somewhat less expensive (in relative terms, that is!).

Lisa3: check on Tikiman's website for room locations:

We are staying LVC in May, also thru the 7 for 4 package. Can't really "justify" the higher cost, but love to sit out on the balcony in the a.m. and watch the sunrise over MK and the kids love to watch the castle change colors at night (What price is "magic"? To us, a LVC room at the Poly!) :D

Hi catnik

Is there much difference in the price ?? - I think I would love to see the castle at night and the fireworks

Thanks

I was wondering how you get an upgrade to a concierge lagoon view. We are staying Garden Concierge at the Poly from 6/6-6/15. Our parents are coming for the last 4 days. Is this something you ask for when you check in?

Thanks...

Its only about a $50 per night difference for the 7 nights, To me thats not bad and I would do it.

I really doubt it happens very often. Hawaii always seems full when we're there and I imagine everyone pretty much gets what they paid for.

I know I'm in the minority on this board but I love garden view concierge, too. I will say that when we were there in Nov. we did LVconcierge and loved Wishes so much from the lanai that we booked LV again for this month.

Do you mean free? I wouldn't count on it. The Hawaii building usually stays pretty full.

Oh, I have another thread going intitled No resort self control

I was planning GVC at the Poly. My mouth said LVC when I made th ressie. Imagine that. I did it last year (in Tahiti). It was SOOOO wonderful to see the fireworks from our room, we tend to turn in early. AND - the castle changes color all night. We never closed the curtains!

Do it, you will not regret it.

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to go ahead and book the LVC. I am usually very economic minded but on our last trip there were times when my youngest DS who was 7 was literally dragged out of the room (he was so tired) to see the EWP which the rest of us love. With a lagoon view room in Hawaii we could watch Wishes and the parade from our room and let "Mr. I need my sleep" go to bed if he wants to. I am going to try to rack up my Hilton Honors points so we can stay free on our trip down and back.

I had the same problem with my decision and after reading all of the great advice on this board we booked LV Concierge. We are also going in September (18th - 25th) maybe we will see you there!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi We are going to poly con in June and I wanted to know what the 7 for 4 package is that you are talking about?

The Disney 7 nite for 4 package was offered to brand new Disney visa card holders (and arbitrarily to some who had their card for several months) as an incentive to apply/use the card. If you have a Disney visa and only recently got it, you can call WDW reservations and ask if you qualify for the deal (they have to cross check with Bank One to be sure). If you are eligible, you are able to book 7 nites at available resorts for the price of 4 nites and get UPH passes included (as well as $100 Disney dollars and some ofther stuff). It is a really terrific deal if you can get it.

What a coincidence! We will be with our DS who will be a few weeks shy of turning 3 when we get there - we will definitely see you there! Maybe we will be neighbors!

Sounds like we are going to be neighbors to me! See you in the lounge. BTW- this is the ONLY way to go with small ones. Milk and juice boxes and little packages of Cheerios! Can't beat it.
